Mrs. Powell knew her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Even though her death was unexpected, we as believers know that death is certain, as this world is only a temporary place. Since moving to her new residence in July she has been the happiest, worry free, fully waited on princess like she deserved. She lived a very hard life starting as a child. She physically labored on their farm as a child with all her brothers and sisters. When she was old enough to work on the farm, she quit school, which left her with very little education. She raised her children mostly alone, and she even went through losing one. She worked hard in mills to make ends meet, where she lost a lot of her hearing. She sacrificed a lot for herself to provide for her children. She also played a large role in lives of her grandchildren. She was always saying something to make them laugh. She would never turn down a hotdog, as that was her favorite thing in this world with a Coke. Nanny loved Jesus and always talked of the day He was coming back. She will watch that day from the best view.

A gathering for friends and family to celebrate the life of Mrs. Alice Powell was held Feb. 18, with a procession following to graveside services at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
