Man gets 28 years in prison for 2014 killing
PICKENS — A Pickens man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to manslaughter last Wednesday.
Judge Letitia Verdin sentenced Justin Douglas O’Bryant, 29, to 28 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections, 13th Circuit solicitor Walt Wilkins said in a news release.
The charge stems from an altercation on Hannah Road in Sunset on April 12, 2014.

PICKENS — Pickens County Council is not in jeopardy of 
facing a justifiable Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, according to Pickens County attorney Ken Roper.

Pickens High junior wins state banner design contest
PICKENS — Izzy Wallace, a junior at Pickens High School, has won a statewide Youth Art Month banner contest sponsored by the South Carolina Art Education Association.

Azalea Festival Committee makes donation for Pickens K-9 officer
PICKENS — The Pickens Police Department is proud of its newest officer. The officer will have many responsibilities when her training is complete.
But she doesn’t have a uniform or a gun. She has a collar and an incredibly powerful nose, and she goes by the name Zenia.
