Adult coed volleyball leagues now forming

PICKENS — The Pickens Recreation Department is now holding registration for adult coed volleyball.

Players must be 21 years old.

The registration fee will be $45 in-city and $55 out-of-city per couple and due at time of sign-up. Individual fees are $22.50

Pickens Rec plans summer day camps

PICKENS — The Pickens Recreation Department has planned eight one-week day camp sessions for this summer.

OPGS to host next meeting on March 21

Auxiliary to host Wendy’s Spirit Night

PICKENS — The Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Wendy’s of Pickens are partnering for a Spirit Night to raise funds to benefit the hospital.

The event will be held on Thursday, March 23, from 5-8 p.m. Wendy’s is located on Ann Street in Pickens.

The fundraiser will benefit AnMed Health Cannon Hospital with equipment needs.

It’s not for sissies

I suffer from moderately severe acrophobia. That means I’m afraid of heights. It doesn’t bother me unless I’m up high, like the second step of a step ladder. That’s about my limit.

So naturally, when a group of friends wanted to hike a section of the Foothills Trail, I was all for it. We drove up to the Chimney Top Gap at Rocky Bottom and began our trek.
