LHS names delegates

Liberty High School students were recently selected as 2017 Palmetto Boys and Girls State delegates. Easter sunrise at Hillcrest

Hillcrest Memorial Park and The Pickens Ministerial Association held their annual Easter sunrise service on Sunday. Above, those in attendance enjoyed the joyful sounds of the Secona Praise Team just after sunrise. Left, this year’s message was delivered by Secona Baptist Church youth pastor James Lawson. A staple in the Pickens community, the event was first held in 1960.

Rogers golf tourney scheduled for April 29

PICKENS — The 13th annual Charles F. Rogers Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 29.

The tournament, which annually benefits a male and female senior basketball player from Pickens High School planning to attend a university, college or technical school, is set to kick off with a 2 p.m. shotgun start at Southern Oaks Golf Course.

The tournament will follow a captain’s choice format, and entry costs $75 per person for a four-person team. Hole sponsorships are available for $50 as well, and prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams, longest drive and closest to the

Where shall the live?

Statistically, more than 90 percent of seniors wish to live and age in their own home. Most seniors surveyed are relatively healthy. They can care for themselves and still enjoy activities with friends and neighbors. Then tragedy strikes either slowly (with dementia) or suddenly (with other illnesses). Adult children are called. The picture changes.

The question becomes, ‘Where is it best for the infirmed family member to live — at their home, at a relative’s home, or in a facility?”
