School district, Easley make property deals
EASLEY — The School District of Pickens County and the city of Easley have reached a set of property agreements, headlined by a plan to move the Adult Education Center to West End Hall.
The district expects the move to save $449,000 over the next 10 years.

Officials making plans for county’s 150th anniversary

COUNTY — Plans are underway to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Pickens County.
County council members began discussing the plans during an October planning retreat, according to the minutes of that meeting.

Iconic Clemson House to come down Sunday
CLEMSON — On Sunday, they’re bringing the House down.

Blue Ridge hosts annual tree lighting ceremony
PICKENS — Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative marked the symbolic beginning of the Christmas season for many local residents when it 
held its 36th annual tree lighting ceremony last week.
During a festive evening on the lawn of the co-op’s Pickens office on Nov. 21, a large crowd gathered around the tree — a landmark in downtown Pickens — to see the lights illuminate for the first time this Christmas season. The event offers an opportunity for the community to come together and prepare for the holiday season.

Local communities preparing for holiday

COUNTY — With the calendar set to roll over into December on Friday, municipalities across Pickens County are preparing to celebrate the Christmas holiday with parades and other events over the next several weeks.
After Six Mile hosts its annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration on Thursday evening, Central will host the county’s first parade of the year on Friday night.

Wierzbicki named region’s top player
PICKENS — Pickens High School’s Lexi Wierzbicki was recently named the unanimous Region I-4A Volleyball Player of the Year for 
the second year in a row.
Wierzbicki, a junior middle hitter, led the Flame with 264 kills with an attacking efficiency of .468 percent in 2017. She led the Lady Flame with 83 blocks and 349 digs.
Sydney Bolding and Kaylee Gillespie were also named to the all-region squad.
