Birchwood Gallery to be open Saturday
PICKENS — The Birchwood Artisan Gallery at the Holly Springs Center will be open for Christmas shopping this Saturday, Dec. 16, 
from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The gallery features the works of 25 fine art and craft artisans from the region.
The Birchwood gallery is one of four branches of the Holly Springs Center, a nonprofit organization located in the former Holly Springs Elementary School, just off U.S. Highway 178 north of Pickens and south of scenic S.C. Highway 11. The School of Mountain Arts, also located in the center, is teaching students how to create high-quality handcrafted items for potential sale in the gallery.

Concert choir plans two shows of JS Bach’s Christmas Oratorio
LIBERTY — The Pickens Concert Choir will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at the Pickens County Performing Arts Center in Liberty this Friday and Sunday.

McKinney Chapel Christmas program planned Saturday
SUNSET — The long-ago story of a miracle in a stable in Bethlehem will be told again at McKinney Chapel, in Pickens County’s Eastatoee

Otto gets Mitchell Award for excellence in ministry
CENTRAL — Early in life, Rev. Wayne Otto had no idea he would someday become a pastor.
He grew up in an unchurched family and as a teenager was headed away from God until a local church congregation reached out to him; there he became a Christian, and his life was transformed.
