Domestic violence call brings child sex charges

PICKENS — A domestic violence call turned in to much more for Pickens police on Thursday, Oct. 8.
According to a news release from the Pickens City Police Department, officers responded to a call about a fight in progress at 233 Ginko Ridge inside the city limits of Pickens.
Upon arrival, officers found an assault victim on the home’s front porch. The victim claimed that she and another woman had been assaulted by her son. Officers say they entered the home and found the second victim arguing with a man.
Officers arrested Michael Jack Miller, 49, for criminal domestic violence.
At the time of the arrest, police observed evidence of the possession of illegal drugs and child pornography. The evidence was seized and a search warrant for the residence was obtained.
Upon service of the search warrant, officers confiscated a computer and several boxes containing photos and videos pertaining to child pornography. The computer has been sent to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for further analysis.
Further investigations led to a victim, who resides outside of the Pickens Police Department’s jurisdiction, according to the release.
Investigators from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office were notified. Miller is currently being held at Pickens County Detention Center.
In addition to the criminal domestic violence charge, the Pickens Police Department has charged Miller with first degree sexual exploitation of a minor child, second degree sexual exploitation of a minor child, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, criminal domestic violence, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
