Blue Ridge Electric sets annual fall blood drive

Blue Ridge Electric employee Debbie Lyda gives blood at one of last year’s semi-annual blood drives.

PICKENS — Giving blood is one of the greatest gifts we can give — a way to celebrate life by giving life.

Blue Ridge Electric will be holding its fall blood drive on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 1-5 p.m. for employees and other interested community members.

Open to the public, the blood drive will be held at the Blue Ridge Co-op office in Pickens, located at 734 West Main St.

“We sponsor two blood drives a year because we understand the importance of increasing the number of donations to our local blood supply,” Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative president and CEO Charles Dalton said. “I’d like to encourage local residents to come out on Oct. 16 and join us in making a difference. Together we can save lives. If you’re interested in donating, please give Andrea Griffin a call at 898-2027 and schedule a time for your donation.

“Every donation gives up to three people a fighting chance at life.”

If you’re eligible to give blood, give and give often. Anyone 17 years of age or older, weighing at least 110 pounds, and in good health can donate.

Please be sure to have eaten a good meal and be well hydrated before donating.
