Robert G. “Bob” Mann

Easley — Robert “Bob” G. Mann, Jr of Easley, 61, passed away on April 8, 2017.

Bob was the son of Helen Still Bates (Bill) of Marietta, GA and Dr. Robert G. Mann, Sr (Judy) of Easley.

He loved helping on the family farm, family gatherings, chess and auto

racing. He was of the Baptist faith.

Bob is also survived by his brothers, Coye Mann (Karen) of Atlanta, Ga., Jay Cassell (Pam), Shannon Cassell (Pattie) all of Easley; A sister Jennifer Cole (Tommy) of Powdersville; He had nine nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Mary Elizabeth Gaines.

A private family graveside service will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Alliance for Mental Illness, www.nami.org.

Kimberly Fowler Earnheart

EASLEY — Kimberly Fowler Earnheart, 58, of Easley, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017.
Born in Ft. Meade, Md., she was the daughter of the late Kimball Y. and Vivian Medlin Fowler. She retired from ScanSource after 18 years of service.
Kim was a passionate person and lived life to the fullest. A loving wife, mother, and Mimi, she will be missed by those who loved her most. We are greatful that she is in the presence of the Lord, whom she loved with all her heart, soul and mind.
Surviving are her loving husband of 36 years, Michael Earnheart, two sons, Ryan Earnheart (Rebecca) of Bear, Del.; and Craig Earnheart of Anderson; three grandchildren, Charlotte, Aria and Caroline; a brother, Gray Fowler and a sister, Debra Long.
In addition to her parents, Kim was predeceased by her two brothers, Ken Fowler and Ronnie Fowler.
Memorial services will be held at 2p.m.Wednesday, April 12 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.

Susan Dianne Wilson

PICKENS — Susan Dianne Wilson was reunited with her family in heaven on April 8, 2017.

Though her time with us was too short, the joy and love she shared with us was enough for a hundred lifetimes.

She was a native of Pickens, a graduate of Pickens High School, and worked most recently at Yokohama Industries Americas in Liberty.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Joey Wilson, her son Joseph Wilson, III and his wife Rose, her father Ted Galloway, her sisters Lynn Lyday and Sarah Galloway, her brothers Terry Galloway, David Galloway, and Ted Galloway, Jr., numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Her family was her joy in life. She is now home in heaven with her daughter, Nichole Galloway, her mother Ruby Galloway, her grandparents, her nephew, and all her family that has gone on before.

Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday April 15 at Midway Baptist Church in Pickens with services following at 3:30 p.m.

Rev. David Roper

Pickens — Rev. William David Roper, 75, husband of Diana Hendricks Roper, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

Rev. Roper was born in Pickens County, son of the late David Frank and Mildred Holder Roper. He was retired from Durham’s Hardwood as a truck driver. He was also a Church of God minister, having served Walhalla Church of God #2, Pickens Church of God, Dacusville Church of God, Six Mile Church of God, Salem Church of God, Cross Roads Church of God in Campobello, and Glassy Mountain Church of God in Greenville County and Joy Valley Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Diana Roper of the home; his daughter, Deborah Roper Underwood (Derrick Hallums) of Greenville; his sons, John D. Roper and Robert Allen Roper both of Pickens; and his grandchildren, Tyler Underwood (Kayla), Carly Underwood (fiancée Jacob Davidson), Sarah Underwood, Erin Underwood, Corey Roper and Dawson Roper and his great-grandson, Caden Underwood.

Funeral services were held April 9 in the Dillard funeral home chapel, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Geneva Polly Crawford

Easley — Mrs. Geneva Pauline “Polly” Parker Crawford, 76, wife of the late Jerry Harrell “Bud” Crawford, stepped into Heaven Sunday, April 2, 2017.

Born in Haywood County, N.C., the daughter of the late Charlie and Edna Edwards Parker, Mrs. Crawford retired from retail sales and was a member of Easley First Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Vicky Crawford (Ria) of Wellington, Fla., Joan C. Ferguson (Rev. Dr. Doug Ferguson) of Conyers, Ga., Melodie Crawford of Lincoln, Ala., and Jeri C. King (Roger) of Liberty; two brothers, Charles Parker of Bloomfield, Ind., and James Parker of Waynesville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Bridget Ferguson Stratton (Charlie), Bethany Ferguson Stratton (James), Justin Duncan and Jordan Duncan; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Polly’s life was held April 5 at Easley First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Doug Ferguson officiating.

Keith Smith

Piedmont — Keith Smith, 80, of Tripp Road, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

Born on April 4, 1937, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Mattie Mae Smith.

Mr. Smith was retired from Bonitz Construction in Greenville. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, gardening and growing flowers. He was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran.

Surviving are his wife of the home, Doris Allen Smith; a son, Ricky Smith (Lisa) of Piedmont; a daughter, Karen Nichols (Gene) of Piedmont; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held April 6 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.

Ken Barkley

Six Mile — Charles Kenneth “Ken” Barkley, 75, husband of Geraldine Joyce Brucke Barkley, passed from this life on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Barkley was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Hovie and Bessie Nix Barkley. He was retired from Schlafhorst in Charlotte, N.C., and worked throughout the United States and Canada supervising crews installing textile machinery. He attended the Church of God and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Joyce Brucke Barkley of the home, a son, Charles Allen Barkley (Sharon Payne) of Six Mile, grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Kenneth, Shana, Robert, and Rondal and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Linda Fink (Dewayne) of Gilbert.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Holder, six brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held April 10 in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jason Grant, the Rev. Neal Hendrix and the Rev. Doug Saylors officiating and burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Rebecca Kay Burgess

Greenville — Rebecca Kay Rogers Burgess, 69, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017.

A daughter of the late Frank and Marjorie Rogers, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Ronald and Tommy.

Kay retired from the Greenville Hospital System and was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Michael Messer of Greenville; and her niece, Angela (Greg) Watson of Easley.

Graveside service was held Tuesday, April 11, at Graceland Cemetery in Greenville.

Athena Anders O’Shields

Pickens — Athena Anders O’Shields, 38, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 7, 2017.

Athena was born in Easley, daughter of Jeff Anders and the late Shiela Anders. Athena loved her children and family. She also enjoyed serving her church (Freedom Biker Church).

Survivors include her husband, Marty O’Shields; two son,; Dylan O’Shields and Jonathan O’Shields, all of Pickens; one brother, Jeff Anders II; a sister-in-law, Beth White (Shawn); three nephews, Jeff Anders III, Elijah Anders and Lincoln White; and two nieces, Sharon Anders and Ashlyn White. Athena is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Athena was predeceased by her grandparents, the Rev. Prue and Evelyn Pelfrey, and Lynn and Anna Eileen Anders.

Services were held at the Mountain View Funeral Home on April 10, followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Brenda Ann

Fortescue McCall

Easley — Brenda Ann McCall, 69, wife of Hoyt E. McCall went to be with the Lord Monday April 3, 2017, at her home.

Mrs. McCall was born in Abbeville, a daughter of the late Nettie Sue Wells Fortescue and Calvin C. Fortescue. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and also loved and cared for her animals.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 50 years, include four daughters, Christy McCall Porter (Robert) of Pickens, Stacy J. McCall of Easley, Rachel D. McCall of Easley and Bridgette McCall Brown (Eric) of Fountain Inn; and six grandchildren, Seth Hughes, Hayden Hughes, Matthew Hughes, Brayden Hughes, Kaylee Poole and Ansley Brown.

She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Charles, Pressley and Jimmy Fortescue.

A graveside service was held on Friday, April 7, at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. Services were conducted by the Rev. James McCall.

Active pallbearers were Jerry Fortescue, Shea Fortescue, Seth Hughes, Hayden Hughes, Matthew Hughes, Brayden Hughes, Eric Brown, Robert Porter and Mitchell Jackson.

Rev. William D. James

PICKENS — Rev. William D. James, 90, of Pickens, left his earthly life to be forever with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 7.

He was born June 27, 1926, in Anderson. He answered the call from God to the ministry of the gospel at the age of 18 while serving in the U.S. Navy.

He received his Associate of Arts Degree in 1948 from Southern Wesleyan University in Central and his AB Degree (1950), and THB Degree (1951) at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. In 1949, he married Clara Chizum of Indiana, and they have celebrated 67 years of marriage.

His first pastorate was in Gaston, Ind. Afterward, he moved his family to South Carolina, where he served in ministry for more than 60 years, pastoring churches in Central, Cateechee, Clemson and Spartanburg. In 1977, he was elected to be the district superintendent, serving for 15 years with responsibility for the 66 churches located throughout South Carolina. The Table Rock Wesleyan Campground, located next to Table Rock State Park, was developed during this time.

He served for 12 years (1980-1992) on the general board of administration, which is the highest governing body of The Wesleyan Church, located in Indianapolis, Ind. He was also a trustee for Southern Wesleyan University in Central, and was trustee emeritus until the time of his death. For 12 years he was on the board of Hephzibah Children’s Home, Macon, Ga.

His speaking engagements included camp meeting services, revival meetings, and 12 years on the weekly radio program The Voice of Faith.

After his official retirement, he continued to work in interim or pastoral staff positions, as a bible study leader, and always an evangelist to his neighbors and friends.

Rev. James had a deep love of family and is survived by his wife, Clara (Chizum) James, his sister, Esterlee Vickery, three sons and wives, William Paul and Susan (Cooke), Stephen Mark and Anna (Cole), and Thomas David and Rebecca (Rollins), seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by extended family and a host of friends.

The funeral will be held at the Trinity Wesleyan Church, 700 Issaqueena Trail, Central, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday night from 6-8 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, and again at 1 p.m Thursday, at Trinity Wesleyan Church. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum located in Memory Gardens, Clemson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Southern Wesleyan University, Advancement Office, P. O. Box 1020, Central, SC 29630. These memorials will help complete the Nicholson-Mitchell Project.

Dale Yvonne Holbrooks

Pickens — Yvonne Holbrooks, 59, went to be with the Lord Monday April 6, 2017, at her home. Ms. Holbrooks was born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late Lois Vander Stewart and Pete Stewart.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Holbrooks of Pickens; a son, Josh Holbrooks of Pickens, two brothers, Clyde Stewart and Haskell Capps; three sisters, Lois Lyle, Brenda Shead and Mary Percival; two grandchildren, Alaena Russell and Isabella Minner; and special friends, Marty Reece, Connie Reece and Dale Reece.

She was predeceased by her parents and her significant other, Ernest Reece.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 11, at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
