Kay Ingram

EASLEY — Margaret “Kay” Brannon Ingram, 78, of 2510 Farrs Bridge Road died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Rutherfordton, N.C., a daughter of the late Joe Harold and Maude Ferree, Mrs. Ingram retired from AT&T in Kansa City, Mo., and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Lawrence William “Bill” Ingram of the home; a son, Frankie Ingram (Teresa) of Sunset; a daughter, Lulu Winchester (Chip) of Liberty; three grandchildren, Brooke and John Ingram and Kaleigh Winchester; her beloved dog, “Patches”, and three nieces, Carol McCurry (Barry), Beverly Pilgrim (Mike), and Amanda Wells (Terry); and one nephew, Larry Martin (Robbie). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ingram was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Martin.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday at Jones Avenue Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

Bernice Pilgrim

Liberty — Bernice Reeves Pilgrim, 83, of 959 Breazeale Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014. Born in Pickens, she was the wife of Nelson Wayne Pilgrim of the home and a daughter of the late Thomas and Nora Gravley Reeves. She was a hairdresser for more than 50 years and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Charles “C.W.” Pilgrim, Randall Pilgrim and Scottie Pilgrim all of Liberty; a brother, Thomas Reeves of Pickens, six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter, Melinda Davis; and a twin sister, Beatrice Johnson.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Providence Care Hospice, especially Angel Surett and Jessica Gasque for the love and care they gave to Mrs. Pilgrim.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Pilgrim were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maranatha Baptist Church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park

Garvin E. Stone

Six MilE — Garvin Elton Stone, 74, husband of Barbara Ann Durham Stone, died on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014.

Garvin was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Walter Leon and Inez Ellenburg Stone. He was retired from Cornell Dublier formerly Sangamo Electric as a production line supervisor. He was a member of Gap Hill Church of God and the Sanctuary Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara of the home, son, Scott Elton Stone and his wife Angie and grandchildren, Hillary and Lesley Ann Stone. Also surviving are sisters, Linda Stone and Judy Reid (Ronald) all of Six Mile.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 pm. Friday, Nov. 21, at Gap Hill Church of God.

Walter Perry

Liberty — Walter Woodrow Perry, 100, of 630 Winding Creek Road, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Perry was born in Cateechee, and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He started the first ambulance service in Pickens County and later retired from Pickens County EMS.

He was a member and former deacon of Norris First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Melva Garrett Wooten Perry of the home; two step daughters, Regina Moore (Daniel) of Central, and Angela Elrod (Steve) of Liberty; a grandson, Ben Moore (Kelley).

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Norris First Baptist Church, PO Box 130, Norris SC 29667.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Perry were at 2 p.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

John Curtis Youngblood

eASLEY — John Curtis Youngblood 84, husband of Louise Sweet Youngblood, died
Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson.

Mr. Youngblood was born in Pickens County, a son of Willie Judson (Judge) and Bertie Lee Henson Youngblood.  He was retired from the Arial Plant of Alice Manufacturing Company, served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Arial Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Gary Youngblood and his wife Rhonda, of Easley, a daughter, Dee Dyches and her husband Chip of Pickens; two sisters, Linda Black and her husband, Roger, and Kay Brown and her husband Bobby of Easley; four grandchildren Bree Murrell, Kyle Youngblood, Kamryn and Charlesie Dyches; two great grandchildren, Trent and Connor Murrell.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at Arial Baptist Church. The burial followed the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Ruby M. Evett

Pickens — Ruby Morris Evett, 84, wife of William L. “Dink” Evett, died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Evett was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Rena Rowland Morris. She was retired from Sir Shirtmakers and was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Evett loved flowers and gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Dink Evett of the home, son, Don Evett (Pat) of Pickens and daughter, Gerri Porter (Wayne) of Pickens and grandchildren, Randy Evett, Billy Evett (Deila), Amy Brissey (Michael) and Carrie Howard (Preston) and seven great grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan, Leighanne, Libby, Alex, Chelsea, and Hillary. Surviving also are sisters, Bobbie Ruth McKinney, Helen Pace, Ethel (Tootsie) Hayes and Diane Brown, and brothers, Troy Morris and Curtis Morris.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evett was preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Folger, and Dwain Morris and a sister, Viola Wright.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with the Reverend Tommy Howard officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens with the Rev. Derrel Robinson officiating.

Easley — Donnie Charles Durham, 71, husband of Nellie Mae Ball Durham died Wednesday Nov. 19, 2014. Mr. Durham was born in Easley a son of the late Bernice Magdalene Durham.

Mr. Durham was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of fourteen years, one daughter; Debbie Boozan of Greenville, one son; Roger Durham and wife Vickie of Powdersville, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Durham was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Lisa Hellams James

Spartanburg — Lisa Kay Hellams James, 44, of Old Pacolet Road, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at her residence. Born in Easley, she was a daughter of Kay Reece Ramey of Liberty and the late Jack Hellams.

Surviving in addition to her mother are a daughter, Adrian Harris(Jason) of Pickens; a son, Tim Edwards(Anna) of Pickens; three sisters, Terri White of Pickens, Christine Burgess of Pickens and Becky Ramey Martin of Central; a brother, Daryl Hellams(Taffie) of Liberty; and three grandchildren, Calleigh, Abigail and Rayne Harris.

In addition to her father she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jadyn Harris; and her step father, Floyd Lee Ramey.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Mortuary. No service is planned at this time.

Dorsie C. Fowler

Easley ­— Dorsie Candler Fowler, 103, of 216 Orr Road, wife of 72 years of the late Mack Arthur “AM” Fowler, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at her home.

Born in Buncombe County, N.C., a daughter of the late George Newton and Sally Towle Candler, Mrs. Fowler retired from Southern Franklin Co. and was a Red Cross Volunteer at Greenville Memorial Hospital for 25 years.

 She was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church where she served in the WMU, Margaret Mitchell Circle, Young At Heart, and a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Surviving are two sons, Gary G. Fowler of Piedmont and Keith Fowler (Chan) of Cullman, Alabama; a daughter, Nancy Fowler of the home; a sister, Allie Candler of Laurens; three grandchildren, the Rev. Terry Fowler (Terri), Joey Fowler (Sandy) and Dana May (Danny); four great-grandchildren, Kevin May, Leslie Carpenter (Nathan), Timothy Fowler, and Kimberly Congreve (Matthew); and two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Fountain and Kylie Carpenter. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Fowler was predeceased by a daughter, Edith Hope Fowler, a granddaughter, Donna Jones, a daughter-in-law, Elsie Moody Fowler, sisters, Mamie, Jennie and Almeta and Pearl; and brothers, Charlie, Julius, Lonnie, Cecil and Paul Candler.

Funeral services were 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Keith Shorter and the Rev. Terry Fowler officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Journey Hospice for their loving care for Mrs. Fowler.

Velma Morton Knight

Easley — Velma Morton Knight, 87, wife of the late Joseph Mitchell Morton and Charlie Knight died Monday Nov. 24, 2014 at McCall Hospice House. Mrs. Knight was born in Pickens County the daughter of the late Dora Aiken Martin and John M. Martin.

Mrs. Knight loved her family with all her heart.

Survivors include her daughter; Eugenia Rector and husband Billy Joe of Powdersville, one son; Glen Morton and wife Michelle of Easley, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Knight was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers.

A service will be held at Dillard Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Griffin Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jimmy Spearman

Easley — James Burgess “Jimmy” Spearman, Jr., 68, husband of Cecilia Houston
Spearman, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 at Greenville Memorial
Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, the son of the late James Burgess Spearman, Sr. and the late Louise Jones Spearman, Jimmy was a 1972 graduate of the Citadel, retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a member of Carmel Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 46 years, are a son, Chad
Spearman of Easley; a daughter, Megan Spearman of Easley; a sister, Wanda Lee Hill of Easley; and two grandchildren, April Spearman and Derek Harbin.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Carmel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. John LeHeup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Wharton Sullivan

Laurens — Sara Wallace Wharton Sullivan, 93, of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community and the widow of Dunklin Miller Sullivan, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at the Hospice House of Laurens County in Clinton.

Born in Waterloo, she was a daughter of the late W. Carl and Sara Wallace Wharton. Mrs. Sullivan graduated from Furman University and retired after 43 years as an elementary school teacher at Laurens Primary. She was a member of First Baptist Church, church choir and the Martha Franks Singers.

Surviving are her son, Robert Wharton Sullivan (Charlotte) of Pickens; sister, Mary Ann Wharton McNeill of Laurens; nieces, Anita McNeill Hart (Barton) of Nebraska, Linda Wharton McNeill (Michael) of Arlington, VA, and Margaret “Mo” McNeill Chandler (Thomas) of Waterloo; great niece, Keri Martin Bolding (Ryan) and their children, Morgan and Carson all of Gray Court; a great nephew, Travis McNeill “Neill” Martin (Kimberly) and their children Kirby and Allie all of Laurens; and her caregiver, Kayla Bluford.

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Martha Franks Rasor Chapel conducted by the Rev. Rickey Letson and Dr. Bev T. Kennedy, Jr. with burial in Waterloo Cemetery.
