BETTY MAE PLESCHAKOW

PICKENS — Betty Mae Pleschakow, 92, passed away peacefully with her family present on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at her home.

Born in Flint, Mich., she was the daughter of Edward Monroe and Ethel Corrine Lincoln, who resided in Flushing, Mich., where she grew up. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens.

She loved crocheting and made countless afghans, especially for several members of church. She was known as “Betty the Baker,” as she was well known for her numerous cakes, cookies and many other baked goods.

She also loved bowling and bowled for several years with the Tri-City seniors league in Easley.

Surviving are daughters, Linda Haney of Pickens and Jill Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two sons, Michael Bruner of Nenana, Alaska, and Robert Bruner of Michigan.

She had eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Grace United Methodist Church at 3 p.m., with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty Pleschakow’s honor to Grace United Methodist Church.

KELSI LAUREN MERCK

EASLEY — Kelsi Lauren Merck, age 12, daughter of Sylvester Junior Wright and Kayla Lesliemay Merck passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.

Kelsi is survived by her parents, Junior and Kayla; grandparents Keith (Debbie) Simmons; a sister, Tessa Simmons; a brother Ryland Wright; uncle Joshua (Sharon) Merck; and cousins Skylan Merck, Greyland Merck, Eli Merck and Ricker Merck.

Kelsi loved cheerleading and volleyball and was a member of the Beta Club. Kelsi was a member of Five Points Church in Easley.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Mountain View Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

DORIS M. PACE

EASLEY — Doris M. Pace passed from this Earth on Sunday, Nov. a, 2019, at the age of 90.

She was born in Oconee County to the late Ivie V. Medlin and Elsie Ann Peay Medlin and married to the late Donal Pace.

She was the first in her family to graduate from high school, and she then went on to graduate from Forrest Junior College in Anderson. Doris was a loving housewife and homemaker for her family.

Doris was friendly to those around her and was very active during her lifetime with Easley First Baptist’s Clothes Closet when her health allowed. She was faithful to her Lord and had a good sense of style. She was a great country cook, loved doing crafts and was known for her spaghetti.

She was predeceased by a number of brothers and sisters and was the last surviving sibling in her family.

The funeral was held at the mausoleum at Oconee Memorial Park on Nov. 22. Burial followed at the park. Thank you to all who cared for Doris Pace.

MARY MAUDE “MAUDIE” MEDLIN

EASLEY — Mary Maude “Maudie” Medlin, 85, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, in Easley.

Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest Brown and Mary Maude Williams Brown, and wife of the late Ted Larry Medlin.

She was an active member of the Widowed Persons Organization and worked at Sangamo for many years.

Survivors include a son, James B. Medlin (Cheryl) of Pickens; and a daughter, Susan M. Kinley (Greg) of Anderson. Maudie also leaves six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren to share in her memory. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Ted Medlin Jr.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 22 at Dillard Funeral Home. Burial was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to East Pickens Baptist Church.

RICHARD THOMAS STANLEY SR.

EASLEY — Richard Thomas Stanley Sr., 75, passed away on Saturday, Nov, 16, 2019, in Easley.

Born in Coshocton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry Stanley and late Lina Stanley and the husband of Miriam Stanley.

He was ordained as a pastor at the young age of 20 and served as a lead pastor for several years and also served as an evangelist during his pastoral life. He served as a missionary to the country of Haiti for 20-plus years. His love for others was always evident in his business and personal life. He never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife, Miriam; one daughter, Ramona Negron of Easley; four sons, Richard Thomas Stanley Jr. (Kristina) of Easley, David Stanley (Heather) of Easley, Daniel Stanley (Deanna) of Pickens and Jonathan Stanley (Kelly) of Easley; one brother, John Stanley of New Port Richey, Fla.; and one sister-in-law, Becky Stanley of Central. He leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Steven, Tommy III (Jenny), Matthew, Nathan, Jacob, Zoë, Haylie, Isaac, Kaylin, Preston, Emily, Laney and Gavin; and one great-grandchild, Brody. There are also many nieces and nephews left to share in his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry, mother, Lina, and brother, Gene Stanley.

Services were held on Nov. 21 at the Bible Methodist Church. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

KATHY BREWER

EASLEY — Kathy Diane Leslie Brewer, 64, of 201 Walnut Hill Drive, died on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville, she was the wife of Michael Victor “Mike” Brewer, and the daughter of the late Tommy Lawrence and Betty Brown Leslie. She was a member of Golden Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Tracy Smith (Lane) of Liberty and Terri Padgett of Easley; two sons, Tony Brewer of Easley and Todd Brewer (Brandy) of Liberty; five brothers, Nick Leslie of Greenville, Freddie Leslie of Liberty, Victor Leslie of Anderson, Keith Leslie of Liberty and Steve Leslie of Anderson; and seven grandchildren, Timothy, Libby, Cole, Maddie, Chloe, Carson and Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Randy “Pete” Leslie.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

BETTY BOWMAN

LIBERY — Betty Eloise Cooper Bowman, 87, of 308 W. Woodside Circle, passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Liberty, she was the widow of Grover Clyde Bowman and a daughter of the late Jeff and Viola Alexander Cooper. She was a graduate of Liberty High School and was the 1949 Homecoming Queen.

She was a homemaker and taught piano for many years. She grew up in Calumet Baptist Church and was a founding member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Surviving are a daughter, Terry Tipton of Sevierville, Tenn.; two sons, Victor Bowman of Unity, N.H., and Andy Bowman (Kim) of Liberty; three sisters, Lillian Odom, Shelba Owen and Faye Suddeth, all of Liberty; three granddaughters, Tara Lindbert (Daniel), Lindsey Riddle (Aaron) and McKenzie Carson (Tyler); and three great-grandchildren, Grady Riddle, Ady Lindbert and Karlee Riddle.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ophelia “Johnnie” Cooper, Jeffie Jones and Gladys Johnson, and three brothers, Lloyd “Buck,” Robert “Bob,” and Floyd Cooper.

Memorial services to honor the life of Mrs. Bowman were conducted on Nov. 26 at Calumet Baptist Church. The family greeted friends following the service.

MARION ENTREKIN

LIBERTY — Marion Theodore Entrekin, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Brookdale of Easley.

Born in Liberty, he was the husband of Sue Entrekin and a son of the late Theodore Clyde and Addie Lee Robinson Entrekin.

He was a 1955 graduate of Liberty High School and later graduated from Furman University. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Mr. Entrekin was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam and was member of Calumet Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Janet Jameson of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Waldon Entrekin (Janie) and Carl Entrekin, all of Liberty; two grandchildren, Zach Tucker (Kallie) and Nick Tucker, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Kinsleigh and Jackson Tucker; and a special niece, Karla Entrekin of Liberty.

Funeral services to honor Marion’s life were conducted on Nov. 26 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial was held at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

JOSEPH F. KAY

EASLEY — Mr. Joseph “Frank” Franklin Kay, 94, husband of the late Betty Brock Kay, passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019.

Born in Anderson County, the son of the late Joseph Eugene Kay and the late Bessie Milford Kay, Mr. Kay was a graduate of Boy’s High School and retired from Southern Bell Telephone with 46 years of service. He was a member of Arial United Methodist Church. Mr. Kay was a member of Bates Masonic Lodge #189 A.F.M and a Hejaz Shriner.

Frank was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, having participated in the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach and the Rhine River Crossing.

Surviving are a son, Stephen Milford Kay (Tammy) of Easley; four grandchildren, Alex Kay, Justin Kay (Barbie), Stephen Kay and Leona Gaskill; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher Kay, Bella Kay, Chelsey Bigham, Chandra McCall, Joseph Connor Kay, Cash Gaskill, Simon Gaskill, Elliot Ballentine, and Sidney Raines; and three great-great-grandchildren, Cate and Callen Bigham and Parker Raines.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Kay was predeceased by a son, Joseph Brock Kay.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 25 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Graceland West Cemetery.

EDNA CHAPMAN HOLDEN

PICKENS — Mrs. Edna Chapman Holden, 102, wife of the late James Albert Holden, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.

Born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late James Marion and Cannie Patterson Chapman, Mrs. Holden was retired from Cannon Memorial Hospital and was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church, Easley.

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our precious mother. It’s so hard to imagine our world without her.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Lance (Steve) and Ruby Constance (Russ), both of Easley, and Norma Bagwell (Mickey) of Pickens; a son, Ricky Holden of Easley; and three grandchildren, Clinton Holden (Bethany), Daniel Holden (Taylor) and Seth Holden.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Holden was predeceased by a son, Franklin James Holden; and two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

DONALD LEWIS HOLLOWAY

MARIETTA — Donald Lewis Holloway, 83, husband of Yvonne C. Holloway for 63 years, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, Louie (Anita) Holloway of Easley, Dale (Tammy) Holloway of Marietta, Cleve (Mickie) Holloway of Marietta, Donna (David) Marling of Marietta, and Todd Holloway of Marietta; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and sisters Frances, Carolyn and Mary.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis Paul Holloway and Frances Elizabeth King Holloway.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 25 at Cross Roads Baptist Church in the church sanctuary. A private burial followed.

MARY MADDOX

EASLEY — Mrs. Mary Maddox, born on Oct. 7, 1927, passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at the age of 92.

Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl Richardson; grandsons, Jeff Richardson (Anita), Adam Allen (Tina) and Aaron Allen (Susan); and great-grandchildren, Alden Richardson, Aubrey Richardson, Bradley Allen, Lexi Allen, Josh Allen, Chris Allen and Casie Allen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Maddox; her parents, George Fowles Sr. and Ida Staggs Fowles; and a daughter, Georgia Allen.

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

A private committal service will be held at a later date in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum of Robinson Memorial Gardens.

LIBERTY — Beth S. Tettemmer, 57, wife of Jack Tettemmer for 25 years, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019.

Beth loved painting rocks and spending time in her fairy garden, but most of all loved her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; two daughters, Chelsea James and Kristie James; grandchildren, Haley James, Colton Pfeiffer, and Adam Gossett; a brother, Bill (Karen) Jones; and nephew, Will Jones and his family, along with a niece, Lisa Smith and her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, William Stanley Jones I and Shelby Jean Jones, her grandparents, one aunt and one uncle.

A memorial service was held on Nov. 21 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home.

JOANN ADCOX SEAWRIGHT

EASLEY — Joann Adcox Seawright, 79, passed on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Baptist Easley.

Mrs. Seawright was the daughter of the late Sallie Mae Richards Adcox and Edward Eugene Adcox. Mrs. Seawright loved working in her yard and spending time outside. She was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church in Liberty.

Survivors include her loving son, Tim Seawright of Easley; one brother, Frank Adcox of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Seawright was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, James Adcox, J.B. Adcox, Harry Adcox and Edward Adcox; and three sisters, Mary Whitmire, Lucille Curtis and Meadra Crenshaw.

A funeral service was held on Nov. 26 at Mountain View Funeral Home, with burial following at Smith Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Liberty.

Flowers will be accepted, and memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
