Anne C. Roe

Easley — Anne C. Roe, 98, widow of Pete Roe, passed from this life on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016.

Mrs. Roe was born in Anderson, a daughter of the late B.F. and Josie Clark Childress. She was a homemaker and a member of Easley First Baptist Church, where she was active in the W.M.U. and the Philathea Sunday School Class. Mrs. Roe was formerly employed at Cato.

Survivors include her sister, Miriam Stone of Easley, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Roe was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Harrison, and her son, Fulton Roe, brothers, Burts, Jim, Skimp, Pat and Bill, and sisters, Lib and Fefa.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. John Adams officiating.

Kent C. Ryder

Pickens — Kent Carson Ryder Sr., 94, husband of Wanda Mae Gill Ryder, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016.

Mr. Ryder was born in West Virginia, a son of the late Arthur Ryder and the late Vesta Ryder Mullins. He was retired as a heavy equipment operator and he was a member of Bethany Church of God in Pickens and Solid Rock Baptist Church in Liberty. Mr. Ryder was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. For many years, he served his Lord as an evangelist.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Mae Ryder; sons, David Ryder, Kent Ryder Jr., Gary Ryder, Michael Ryder, Nelson Ryder, Ray Ryder and Timothy Ryder; daughters, Norma Davis, Mary Bowman and Diane Vannoy (Eldon). Surviving also are stepchildren, George Chappell Jr., Ronnie Chappell (Glenda), Renee Carpenter (Billy), Carolyn Thompson (Barry), and Juanita Proffit (Robbie). Brothers include Huey Mullins and Douglas Mullins. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 20 the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Dillon Ridgeway

Six Mile — Dillon McCade Ridgeway, 17, of 621 Love and Care Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Greenville, Dillon was a junior at Daniel High School and worked at Cookout in Clemson.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Kelley and Keith Hamilton of the home; his father, Jamie Ridgeway (Tammy Barry) of Greenville; five sisters, Kelsey and Racheal Ridgeway of Greenville, Austin Ridgeway of the home, Hannah Hamilton of Greenwood, and Amber Nelson of Greenwood; five brothers, Cameron Ridgeway of Six Mile, Tyler and Trent Hamilton of the home, James Ridgeway of Greenville, and Chris Nelson of Pelzer; grandparents, Don and Donna Price of Travelers Rest, Kathy and Mark Swartz of Powdersville, Bill and Debbie Ridgeway of Williamston, and Frances Hamilton of Central; and his great-grandmothers, Lois Ridgeway of Williamston and Mary Reynolds of LaGrange, Ga.

Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services to honor Dillon’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be private.

The family will be at the home of Keith and Kelley Hamilton, 621 Love and Care Road, Six Mile, SC 29682.

James “Jim” Walker Chapman

Easley — James “Jim” Walker Chapman, 71, of Easley, husband of Joyce Brady Chapman, passed peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown Greenville.

Born in Six Mile to the late Phillip Walker Chapman and Callie Holliday Chapman, he was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church for 12 years, where he served his church as a deacon, chairman for the Church Council, Finance Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, and actively taught Sunday school. He enjoyed fishing, the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves, and most importantly reading his Bible.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Laura Dodson, and sister-in-law, Doris Chapman.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years; daughters, Jennifer Lynn Maurer (Jim) of Missouri and Angela Blythe Byars (Steve) of Greer; brother, William “Bill” Charles Chapman of Easley; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and longtime friends, Sue and Melvin King of Georgia.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at Robinson Funeral Home, Easley, with Rev. Zach Shaw and Rev. Roger Couch officiating, with entombment following in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, donations have been requested by family directly to Jones Avenue Baptist Church, 614 Ross Avenue, Easley, SC 29640.

Jeanette Garrett Patterson

Easley — Mrs. Jeanette Garrett Patterson, 95, of Easley, wife of the late Boaz Patterson, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at Manna Health and Rehabilitation.

Born in Pickens County on April 24, 1921, she was raised by her grandparents, “Shop” Ed and Sarah Merck Garrett.

She is survived by two children, Luke (Beth) Patterson and Sara Jo Raue; five grandchildren, Jill Schmidt, April Turner, Tracy Harbin, Jan Maready and Angie Long; 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jesse Harbin, Ashley and Emily Turner, Jennifer Cromer, Lindsey Jones, Ayla Dean, Clay Maready and Darra and Ivy Long, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by two grandchildren, Jason Patterson and Gina Jones.

Jeanette loved her Savior Jesus Christ and her family, and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church and was well loved by all her family and friends and will be missed.

A memorial service was held Nov. 26 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel.

Drunell Chapman

Pickens — Drunell Grant Chapman, 91, passed peacefully to meet the Lord Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, in her home surrounded by family.

Born in Pickens, she was the widow of Clyde James Chapman, and a daughter of the late Henry Clyde and Cora Holcombe Grant.
Mrs. Chapman was very active with her church, Holly Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 70 years. She volunteered at Cannon Memorial Hospital, personally visited with shut-ins, and also helped with Meals on Wheels. She retired from Sangamo Electric.

Surviving are six daughters, Lynda Brucke, Carolyn Durham (Jerry), Janice Beacham (Lee), and Margaret Day (Allen), all of Pickens, Louise Ponder (Tom) of Dacusville, and Mickie Chapman of Pickens; a sister, Betty Hendricks of Six Mile; three brothers, Ralph and Ray Grant, both of Pickens, and Pat Grant of Easley; eight grandchildren, Matt and Paul Brucke, Mark Durham, Kellie Oeffinger, Jennifer Macaluso, Steven Day, Josh Holder and Stacie Medlin; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Yates, and two brothers, Harold and Sonley Grant.
Funeral services to honor Mrs. Chapman’s life were held Nov. 26 at Holly Springs Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Drunell Chapman to Holly Springs Church, 3450 Table Rock Road, Pickens, SC 29671, will be forwarded to the Steven and Candace Day Ministry — Heart for Honduras.

B.F. Robinson

Easley — Mr. B.F. Robinson, 81, husband of Martha Ann Melton Robinson, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Arthur R. and Mittie Heaton Robinson, Mr. Robinson retired from Franklin Dyed Yarn with 45 years of service and was a member of Nine Forks Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 60 years, are two sons, Thomas A. Robinson (Susan) of Lexington and Benjamin F. Robinson of Easley; two daughters, Rhonda Robinson of Easley and Cynthia R. Patton (Gregory) of Easley; three grandchildren, Kevin Hamilton, Rebecca Hamilton and Jessica Patton; and three great-grandchildren, Austin McGaha, Nicholas Ford and Karson Hamilton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Robinson was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Nov. 29 at Nine Forks Baptist Church, with Rev. Stephen Owens and Rev. Gary Pindroh officiating, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Louise Maria Chavis Martin

Easley — Mrs. Louise Maria Chavis Martin, 79, of Easley, loving wife of the late James Walter “Jim” Martin, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at her home.

Mrs. Martin was born in Pembroke, N.C., a daughter of the late Hartman and Letha Hardin Chavis. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

Mrs. Martin is survived by three sons; Larry Joe Rogers Jr. (Elizabeth) of Six Mile, Angelo Brian Rogers of Easley, and John Hartman Rogers (Michelle) of Piedmont; two brothers, Bill and Marvin Chavis, both of Easley; two sisters, Cindy Lewis and Naomi Merck, both of Easley; and two grandchildren, John Adrian Rogers and Dylan Andrew Rogers. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Martin was predeceased by a brother, Buddy Chavis, and a sister, Helen Raxter.

Graveside services were held Nov. 28 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Lee Ann Henderson

Easley — Mrs. Lee Ann Hudson Henderson, 59, wife of Elbert Lee “Bert” Henderson, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Lansing, Mich., a daughter of Jacob Roy Hudson of South Haven, Mich., and the late Betty Louise Haynes Hudson, Mrs. Henderson received her bachelor’s degree from Carson Newman College and taught kindergarten at West End Elementary School. She was a member of Easley First Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 32 years and her father, are two daughters, Amy Lee Henderson of Anderson and Kimberly Henderson of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Lorie Catherine Snyder of Clarksville, Tenn.; and her stepmother, Bea Hudson of South Haven, Mich.

Memorial services were held Nov. 29 at Easley First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating.

Terrence Louis Harrington

Pickens — Mr. Terrence Louis Harrington, 49, of Pickens, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 25, 2016.

Terry was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., on July 7, 1967, to the late Roger Terrence and Dorothy Jean Harrington. Terry graduated from the University of South Carolina Beaufort in 1989 and had a successful career with SCTELCO Federal Credit Union.

He married his hometown sweetheart, Meredith Hill, on June 6, 1992, and he was known for his humor, kindness and his love for his family. A devoted, loving father and a faithful husband, Terry will be missed by many. He was a member of North Hills Community Church in Taylors.

Along with his wife, Terry is survived by two sons, Connor and Owen Harrington of the home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Harrington.

A visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. at North Hills Community Church, 4952 Edwards Road, Taylors, SC 29687.

Anthony “blue” Phillips

pickens — Anthony “Blue” Phillips, 69, of Pickens, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at Manna Health and Rehabilitation.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Clyde James and Gladys Audrey Miller Phillips. Anthony was retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation, and he resided with his brother, Joe. Anthony enjoyed laughing and karaoke with family and friends. Surviving are seven siblings, Delores Chasteen (Larry), Maxine Breazeale (Marion), Becky Waters (Chuck), Gordon Phillips (Janet), Barry Phillips (Jan), Greg Phillips (Joyce) and Joe Phillips.

Graveside services were held Nov. 27 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Dallas F. Greer

Easley — Dallas Franklin Greer, 90, husband of Ruth Alexander Threatt Greer, passed from this life in Louisville, Ky.

Mr. Greer was born in Greenville County, a son of the late Dallas “Red” Greer and the late Trixie Key Greer. He retired in 1991 from General Electric, where he served as a foreman. Mr. Greer was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in the European Theater and fought in three major battles. He also sat in on the Nuremberg trials following the war.Survivors include his wife, Ruth Greer, sons, David Greer and Timothy Greer, both of Louisville, and daughters, Tracy Spalding (Jessie) and Jenna Greer, both of Corydon, Ind., 10 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
