Liberty — Florence Davis Sargent, 94, of 603 Anderson Drive, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

Born in Liberty, she was the widow of Lloyd L. “Mutt” Sargent and a daughter of the late Rev. James A. and Etta Sue Owen Davis.

She retired from Dan River Mills, where she worked as an executive secretary. Mrs. Sargent was a longtime member of East Side Baptist Church where she served as organist for 39 years.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Sargent (Lu) of Liberty, and Tim Sargent (Sandy) of Georgetown, Texas; a sister, Alta Mae Bowen of Elko; a brother, the Rev. Larry Davis of Liberty; four grandchildren, Derek Sargent of Liberty, Josh Sargent (LeAnne) of Wake Forest, N.C., Lisa Kunitz (Logan) of Austin, Texas, and Julie Arguello (Jader) of Nicaragua; five great-grandchildren, Seth, Nathan, Caroline, Isabella and Julianna.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Funeral services to honor Mrs. Sargent were held May 16 at East Side Baptist Church. Burial followed at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Alice R. Skaar

Central — Alice Roden Skaar, 66, of Central, wife of Eric Christen Skaar, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Bethlehem, Conn., she was a daughter of the late John Swensen and Alice Rupell Roden. She was a graduate of Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y., and a retired teacher and principal of Providence Christian Academy. She was a member of Oconee ARP Church in Seneca.

Surviving in addition to her husband are sons, Christian John Skaar of Clemson and Eric Timothy (Denell Bunt) Skaar of Northport, Ala.; daughter, Alice Dorothy Skaar of Liberty, brothers, John Richard Roden of Weedsport, N.Y., and Andrew Stephen Roden of Bethlehem, Conn.; sister, Ellen Roden Simoska of Bethlehem, Conn.; grandchildren, Emma Louise Skaar and Catherine Alice Skaar.

Memorial services were held May 18 at Oconee ARP Church in Seneca with the Rev. Bob Anderson officiating.

John A. Sayre

Central — John Andrew Sayre, 46, husband of Christine Coby Sayre, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at MUSC.

Born in Winchester, Ind., he was a son of Rick and Judie Garringer Sayre of Ridgeville, In. John was a graduate of Ball State University and Purdue University. He was a nuclear equipment operator with Duke Energy. He enjoyed working on John Deere tractors, rebuilding cars, hiking and his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, John Kyle Sayre and Justice Andrew Sayre both of the home; step-daughters, Caitlin Crouse of Farmland, Ind., and Cortnee Crouse of the home; sisters, Marcy Raynes of Sache, Texas, Shelley Meranda of Gaston, Ind. and Lori Sayre of Farmland, Ind.

Funeral services were held May 17 at Thornburg Memorial Chapel in Parker City, Ind.

The family requests no flowers and memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Tina M. Rhodes

Easley — Tina Marie Rhodes, 46, of 117 Lockwood Avenue, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at her home.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Nancy Hunt Rhodes of Easley and the late Jerry Ervin Rhodes.

Miss Rhodes was a homemaker and member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberty.

Surviving are her children, Josh Rhodes (Natasha) of Liberty and Dakota Rhodes of Easley; a granddaughter, Kennedy Rhodes; three sisters, Tonya Arnold, Tracy Arnold and Robin Daves all of Liberty; and two brothers, Dusty Rhodes and Jeff Rhodes both of Liberty.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a sister, Lisa Warren.

Funeral services were held May 15 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 315 Hamlin Road, Liberty. Burial followed in Church Cemetery.

Easley — Judith McClure Hooper, 56, of Easley, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Waynesville, N.C., she is the daughter of Margaret Dillard McClure of Canton, N.C., and the late Kenneth McClure.

Judith was employed with Southern Weaving Company for 20-plus years.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Michael Hooper (Jodi) of Liberty and Heather Hooper Jones (Rusty) of Easley; grandchildren, Presli, Chali, Lyric and Liam; sister, Teresa Fisher (Mike) of Clyde, N.C.; a brother, Michael McClure of Canton, N.C.; and a niece, Savanna McClure.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gray Dillashaw

Easley — Mrs. Dorothy Jean Gray Dillashaw, 79, wife of Alton O’Neal Dillashaw Sr., passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015, at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Abbeville County, the daughter of the late Ernest J. and Bessie Dixon Gray, Mrs. Dillashaw was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 61 years, are two sons, Alton O’Neal Dillashaw, Jr. (Debra), and Todd Dillashaw (Pam), all of Easley; five grandchildren, Bethany Holder, Derrick, Devon, Katelyn, and Brandon Dillashaw; and one great-grandchild, Maebry Dillashaw. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dillashaw was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held May 19 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, and S.C 29642.

Bobbie Jean Stephens

Easley — Bobbie Jean Stephens, 82, wife of the late Tommy Wayne Stephens went to be with the Lord Friday May 15, 2015.

Mrs. Stephens was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Christine Fortner Sweet and Lewis Sweet.

Mrs. Stephens was an avid gardener and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Wayne Stephens and wife, Debbie, of Westminster; two sisters, Louise Youngblood of Easley and Patsy Cantrell and husband Dennis of Pickens; two grandchildren, Amber Mason and Austin Stephens of Westminster and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stephens was predeceased by her husband, parents and four brothers, Hayward Sweet, Ronnie Sweet, Billy Sweet and Lewis (Cotton) Sweet.

Pickens ­— Mr. Richard Elroy Haradon, 86, husband of Elsie Mott Haradon, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at Manna Health and Rehab.

Born in Sac County, Iowa, a son of the late Charles Lloyd and Opal Ellis Haradon, Mr. Haradon was a retired farmer and of the Methodist faith.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 68 years, are a son, Richard L. Haradon of Florida; five daughters, Linda L. Builta of Indiana, Jean A. Stanton of South Carolina, Carla S. Andrew of Indiana, Dawn M. Woodrum of Virginia, and Debora K. Lang of South Carolina; one brother, Kenneth Haradon of Massachusetts; two sisters, Ortha Montgomery and Sandra Riley, both of Florida; 12 grandchildren, Tami, Melissa, Selina, Seth, Sarah, Deborah, Kylie, Shannon, Jeremy, Ashley, Angie, and Andrea; and five great-grandchildren, Landen, Keaton, Marcus, Cadence and Rosemary. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haradon was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Laverne Haradon; and a sister, Dorothy Haradon.

Wilma Burdine

Easley — Nora Wilma Burdine, 76, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Majesty Health and Rehab.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Mason “Jack” and Myrtle Sparks Burdine, Wilma was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church.

Surviving are two brothers, Tommy Burdine (Teresa), and Joe Burdine (Gertrude), all of Easley; two sisters, Rose Nabors and Margaret Richardson (Edward), all of Easley; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Wilma was predeceased by a brother, J.B. Burdine, and a sister, Patricia Burdine.

Graveside services were held May 15 in the Cedar Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Violet Rampey Seeley

LIBERTY — Violet Brooks Rampey Seeley, 80, of 562 Liberty Highway, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Six Mile, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Lula Mae Brooks.

She was a longtime member of Golden Creek Baptist Church and the Joy Group.

Surviving are her husband, Rodney R. Seeley of the home; two daughters, Robin Cox (Mike), and Kathy Stancil (Allen) all of Liberty; a sister, Olean Garner of Pelzer; two brothers, Charles Brooks of Greenville, and Tom Brooks of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Nathan and Adam Masters, Jessica and Vanessa Rampey, Jennifer Guthrie, Josh Stancil, Maggie McQueen, and Ragan and Noah Cox; six great-grandchildren, Landon, Asher, Alden, Eli, Avenley, and Rhiannon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion Henry Rampey, a daughter, Judy Masters, a son, Jay Rampey, and great-granddaughter, Ansley Claire Stancil.

Funeral services to honor Violet’s life were held May 18 at Golden Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Guy A. Jones

Piedmont ­— Guy Arthur Jones, 84, of Spring Meadow Court, husband of the late Chris Gibson Jones, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015.

Born in Reform, Ala., he was the son of the late Troy and Violet Williams Jones.

Mr. Jones was employed by the Florida-Georgia Railroad. His hobbies were gardening, cooking, and delivering Meals on Wheels. His greatest passion was serving his church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Surviving are his daughters, Carolyn Shinkle of Appling, Ga., and Susan Warren of Oakhill, Fla.; a granddaughter raised in the home, Tonni Murrell; three stepdaughters, Lynne Murrell of Clearwater, Fla., Cindy Newsome and Wanda Cadle both of Sardis, Ga.; a stepson, Steven Murrell of Sardis, Ga.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Jones of Albany, Ga.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Price, Bradford Swartz, Denny Belinski, Reggie Hall and Greg Sparkman.
