Central — Nellie L. Hendricks, 83, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Miss Hendricks was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Lem and Rhoda Gray Hendricks, and was retired from Pratt-Reed Inc.

Surviving are two sons, Ronnie Wayne Hendricks and his wife, Glenora, of Liberty, and Thomas Hendricks and his wife, Lisa, of Central, two brothers, Edrew and Morris Hendricks, and two sisters, Lois Rogers and Francis Hickey; five grandchildren, Travis, Kevin, Benny, Jason and Bobby Joe Hendricks; eight great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Ryan, Sarah, Grayson, Jayden, Erin and Emma Hendricks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo and Bill Hendricks, two sisters, Juanita Higgins, Jesse Hayes and Bessie Stubblefield.

Memorial services were held May 28 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.

Landon Jernigan

Easley — Landon Carter James Jernigan, three month old son of Joseph Blaine Jernigan and Catrina Paige Dodgens, passed from this life on May 26, 2015.

Landon was born in Easley on Feb. 23, 2015.

Surviving in addition to his parents is a sister, Skilar Marie Dodgens, and a brother, Cayden Blaine Jernigan. Also surviving are grandparents, Tina Marie Moore and James Earl Moore of Easley, Danny Ross Smith and Tina Lee Pigg Smith of Six Mile, and Charles J. Jernigan Jr. of Greenville. Also surviving are great-grandparents, Shirley Hurley Moore of Newport, Tenn., Linda and Roger Smith of Six Mile, and Doris and Gary Pigg of Travelers Rest, uncles, Zachary Edward Dodgens of Liberty, D.J. Dodgens and nanny, Kismet Dodgens of Honea Path, and a great-uncle Chris Krasnicki and an aunt, Heather Chapman.

A graveside service was conducted May 31 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens in Pickens.

Johnny B. Johnson

Pickens — Johnny B. Johnson, 57 passed from this life Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

Johnny was born in Mooresville, N.C., a son of John and Helen Deal Barnhardt of Little River. He was employed with Ohio Gear (Richmond Gear) in Liberty, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Jane Gill of Pickens, sons, David Barnhardt (Ann) of Pickens, Gary Barnhardt of Kannapolis, N.C., and Jonathan Barnhardt (Nancy) of Alberta, Canada; a brother, Billy Barnhardt of Pickens, and sisters, Doris Phillips, Betty Thomas of Calif., Barbara Linker of Ash, N.C.; Barbara Nance (Jerry) of China Grove, N.C.; and Linda Barnhardt of Little River. Also surviving are four grandchildren.

A graveside service was held May 30 at Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

Fred Griffin Welborn

Pickens — Fred Griffin Welborn, 76, husband of Barbara Chappell Welborn, passed from this life on Thursday, May 28, 2015.

Fred was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Henry and Buna Marie Patten Welborn. He was retired from BASF as a shift supervisor and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the South Carolina National Guard for six years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home, a son, Michael F. Welborn (Paula) of Pickens and a daughter, Marie W. Harbin (Scott) of Seneca. Grandchildren include Addelin Grace Welborn, Emmerson Marie Welborn, Jenna Harbin, and Jake Harbin. Also surviving is a brother, Harold P. Welborn (Una) of Pickens, and sisters, Sarah Rampey (James) of Six Mile, Frances Welborn of Greenville, Ruth Clark (Larry) of Pickens and Clova Vaughan (Foster) of Easley and a sister-in-law, Martha Welborn of Pickens.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gracie Dawn Welborn and brothers, John Welborn and Henry Welborn.

A graveside service was held May 30 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

JUnior Herd

CENTRAL — Junior Ray Herd, 87, of 151 West Old Pendleton Road, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Liberty, he was a son of the late Lillian Herd.

Junior and his wife Faye owned and operated Central Florist for 25 years. Prior to that, he retired from Singer in Pickens and also owned his own moving business. He was a former Councilman for the Town of Central for many years, and was also instrumental in organizing the Central Fire Department, where he was a former chief, and the Central Rescue Squad. He was a member of Golden Creek Baptist Church.

Most of all, he loved the Lord, his family and working from daylight until dark.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Faye Cannon Herd of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Jeff Cooper of Easley, a grandson, Brandon Cooper, a great-granddaughter, Kelsy Rae, and a great-grandson, Gavin Chance. Also surviving is his lifelong best friend, Clarence Wilbanks.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Faye Herd, and a great-granddaughter, Savannah Grace.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Herd were held May 31 at Golden Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mildred N. Cantrell

Liberty — Mildred Nix Cantrell, 86, passed from this life on Friday, May 29, 2015, at Majesty Health & Rehab in Easley.

Mrs. Cantrell was born in Pickens County, daughter of the late King Edward and Iola Thomas Nix. She was retired from Alice Manufacturing Company and she was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church.

Surviving is a nephew, Tony Kelley of Liberty.

Funeral services were held June 1 in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at Roanoke Baptist Church Cemetery.
