Pam Rampey

Six Mile — Pamela Garrett Rampey, 52, of 744 Kelly Mill Road, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016, at the Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late John Garrett Jr. and Helen Watson Abercrombie.

Pam graduated from Daniel High School and later received her B.A. in English from Furman University. She retired from he S.C. Department of Social Services.

She was a member of Gap Hill Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Her greatest joys in life were her family and her church.

Surviving are her husband, Wesley Rampey of the home; two sons, Kendall Rampey and his wife, Katie, of Six Mile, and Chris Rampey of the home; a granddaughter, Jovie Rampey; and two sisters-in-law, Cindy Garrett of Six Mile and Melinda Pressley of Seneca. Also surviving is her adopted family, the Whitmans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Garrett.

Memorial services to honor Pam’s life were held July 14 at Gap Hill Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Gap Hill Baptist Church, Youth Fund, 733 Kelly Mill Road, Six Mile SC 29682. Liberty Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Evelyn B. Crum

EasleY — Mrs. Evelyn Bryant Crum, 96, wife of the late Charles Richard “Dick” Crum Sr., passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Edgar Harrison and Geneva Pearl Collins Bryant, Mrs. Crum retired from Platt-Saco Lowell and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a member since 1957 and was the oldest living current member. Evelyn was a farmer at heart and loved gardening, but her greatest loves were God, family and church.

Surviving are two sons, Roger E. Crum (Tana), and Charles R. Crum, Jr. (Debbie), all of Easley; three daughters, Elaine C. Wilson (Alfred), Rachel C. Elrod (Erwin), and Joan C. England, all of Easley; three brothers-in-law, Samuel Ayers, Bob Terrill and Ross Crum; a sister-in-law, Lucille Lesley; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Crum was predeceased by three brothers, Minor Lee Bryant (Doris), Calvin Bryant (Mary), and Truman Bryant (Carol); four sisters, Helen Barker (J.C.), Margie Burdette (Melvin), Mildred Ayers, and Mary Faye Terrill; one grandson, Ryan Crum, and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Davis.

Funeral services were held July 16 at Jones Avenue Baptist Church, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Betty B. Scruggs

Marietta — Betty Bobo Scruggs, 65, of Wisdom Way, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016, at her home.

Born in Batesburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Geraldine Dillishaw Bobo.

Mrs. Scruggs was formerly employed with Mayfair Mills, Glenwood Plant, and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Easley. She loved her family, playing cards, watching TV and her beloved dog, Bernie.

Surviving are her husband, Phillip Scruggs of the home; daughters, Lisa Rodriguez, Tracy McCarley, Shannon Beauford (Jamie, Jr.) and Jennifer Bell (Paul, Jr.); 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Carlisle, and Jackie Wilson; and a brother, Billy Bobo.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Susan Jenkins, and a brother, John Bobo.

A memorial service was held July 17 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Faye Lay Davis

Easley — Faye Lay Davis, 69, of Easley, wife of the late Ronald “Ron” Lee Davis, passed peacefully Thursday, July 14, 2016, at her home.

Mrs. Davis was born in Oconee County to the late Christopher and Lois Phillips Lay.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joy Davis (Christine Corsello) of Charlotte, Renee Davis (Sandy Rhodes) of Lexington, and Michelle Taylor (Jerry Brown) of Easley; son, Toby Davis (Lisa) of Powdersville; daughter-in-law, Becky Davis of Greenville; brothers, Roger Lay of Princeton, and Kenneth Lay of Belton; sister, Sherry Watkins of Honea Path; grandchildren, Brandon, Devin, Brianna, Chris, Jonathan, Christopher, and Tiffany; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and loving husband, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Davis.

Funeral services were held July 18 at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eddie Crocker officiating and entombment following in Robinson Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.

Jerry Woodard

Liberty — Jerry Woodard, 69, husband of Martha Louise Sims Woodard of 642 Golden Creek Road died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at his home.

Born in Franklin, N.C., he was a son of the late Leeman and Carrie Crisp Woodard. He was a mechanic with Duke Energy and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church #2. He loved to fish and take trips into the mountains and picnic with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John Woodard of Liberty; daughter, Karen W. (Keith) Herd of Central; sisters, Sheila Moore of Seneca, Patricia Sims of Salem and Earline Browning of Seneca; grandchildren, Kali Woodard, Hunter Herd, Clay Herd and Austin Woodard; and a brother-in-law raised in the home, Lawrence Lane Sims.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Billy Wayne Woodard; and a brother, John Cleveland Woodard.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, with the Rev. Leon Lusk and the Rev. Adam Case officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Helen E. Whitt

Easley — Helen Elaine Whitt, 67, of 101 Wallace Drive, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at her home.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Waymond and Pearl Browning Whitt.

Helen was a former employee with Baptist Easley Hospital and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She loved crocheting and all types of flowers.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Sandra Whitt of Easley; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, James and Robert Whitt.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 21, at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

The family will be at the home of Sandra Whitt, 515 Meadow Ridge Drive, Easley, SC 29642. Flowers will be accepted.

Margaret Clark

Pickens — Margaret Clark, 88, wife of Leland “Johnny” Clark, went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 17, 2016.

Mrs. Clark was born in Pickens, a daughter of the late Thomas Durham and Minnie Porter Durham.

Mrs. Clark was employed at Singer for 13 years but finished her working career as a homemaker. She was a member of East Pickens Baptist Church in Pickens.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years; one sister, Edna Gilstrap of Ocala, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kim Ketusky (Edward) of Beech Island and Randy Hughes (Kelly) of Wilson, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Clark is predeceased by one daughter, Barbara Hughes, one brother and four sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Kirk Williams

Easley — Mr. Kirk Kay Williams, 90, husband of the late Katherine Jane Williams, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at the Woodlands at Furman.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late James Andrew and Sarah Caroline Williams, Mr. Williams attended Clemson University, retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a farmer at heart. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII.

Surviving are a daughter, Laura Williams Foster (Richard) of Athens, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Caroline Foster. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Williams was predeceased by a son, Andy Williams; a granddaughter, Carmen Foster; six brothers and three sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road, with the Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. The family is at the home.

Robert Barnes

Pickens — Robert Joseph Barnes, 50, of 111 Lloyd St., passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens, he was the widower of Jeanette Watson Barnes and a son of Clara B. Ladd Kelly of Liberty and the late Robert Conley Barnes. He loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Rice’s Creek Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his stepfather, Fred Kelly of Liberty; three daughters, Margie Hall (Kyle Kunzler) of Liberty, Jessica Barnes (Craig) of Seneca and Lucy Scruggs (Chris) of Liberty; five sisters, Sara Fricks of Travelers Rest; Melissa Hyde of Liberty, Wendy Williams of Liberty, Becky Miller of Easley and Hope Barnes of Oklahoma; two brothers, John Atkinson and J.R. Barnes, both of Pendleton; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Barnes were held July 19 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel, with burial following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
