County breaks ground on hangars named for late Pickens student

LIBERTY — Pickens County officials broke ground on new hangars at the Pickens County Airport last week.

Before the March 13 groundbreaking, county council members held a special called meeting at the airport on a resolution to dedicate the hangars in memory of Dakota Jacks, a Pickens High School student who was killed in a plane crash in Arizona on June 24, 2014.

“Dakota Jacks was a beloved Pickens County resident and honor student at a Pickens High School, JROTC cadet, Beta Club member, a vital member of the school’s bluegrass music group, as well as a full and joyful participant in the life and activity of our community, providing outstanding service thereto,” the resolution read by Pickens
