Locals plan MLK Day walk

PICKENS — Local residents will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with an annual walk along Main Street in Pickens and a ceremony on the steps of the Pickens County Courthouse.

Residents will gather at Pickens Presbyterian Church on the morning of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 19, and leave there on a walk to the courthouse at 8:45 a.m.

The celebration at the courthouse is set to begin at 10 a.m.

The guest speaker for the event will be the Rev. Otis Griffin of Easley Union Baptist Church.

Dr. C.L. Cruell will recite King’s famous “I Have A Dream” speech.
