Nix promoted to division commander

Pickens County sheriff Rick Clark congratulates Lt. Marvin Nix for his promotion to captain and assignment to serve as division commander of the sheriff’s office’s Judicial Services Division.

PICKENS — Lt. Marvin Nix, a 20-year veteran of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, has been promoted to the rank of captain and has been assigned to serve as the division commander for the Judicial Services Division within the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office — a position recently vacated by the retirement of Keith Galloway.

Nix will oversee the division responsible for the operation of the detention facility, as well as the security for the Pickens County Courthouse.

“The skills that Marvin brings to the table made the decision to elevate him into the position of captain an easy task,” Pickesn County Sheriffs Rick Clark said. “His vast knowledge and experience along with his extended service to the agency will reinforce his passion for teamwork and improving overall operations.

“I have the utmost confidence that captain Nix will bring new, innovative ideas to the table so that we can continue to enhance our operations and provide better service.”

Under Clark, the agency was restructured into four divisions, each of which is commanded by one captain — a reduction in the number of captains from the former administration.
