EASLEY — The second annual “Spring for the Arts” will be hosted by Arts Council of Pickens County on April 5 in conjunction with the Easley Farmer’s Market Spring Fling. Committee members have a fun-filled day planned that will entertain everyone from the art entrepreneur to the person who may be viewing art for the first time.

Living artists will be on site demonstrating their skills and crafts during the day. Attendees can hone their painting skills with local artist Bill Lester and Larry Palmer as they teach basic watercolor techniques. Artists will be available to discuss the process through which they create pieces of art to sell or share with others. Local favorite Dale Stone will also be on hand with an exciting activity for the children to participate in. Artists booths will feature the different genres of visual and literary art. Cherie Palmer’s stained glass artwork is sure to appeal to a wide range of attendees. Handcrafted jewelry can be seen and purchased from Desiree Shockley, Allison Brown, Jenna Lynn and John Rasmussen. A Place In the Woods will offer handcrafted wooden furniture.

Music will fill the brisk spring air from the live performing artist in front of City Hall. Local musicians, dancers, and vocalists will also provide entertainment throughout the day. Larry Zarella will present a set of acoustic 70’s rock music. Russ Chapman and his band will also entertain the crowd with their musical stylings. Easley Dance Conservatory company members will dazzle the crowd with a dance performance of the various genres of dance.

Local school-children will have art on display at the Starving Artist Café. The displayed art will be that of winners from a contest sponsored by the Arts Council of Pickens County. Winners will be presented with their prizes on the main stage during the festival at 11 a.m.

The entire day has something for everyone in the family from youngest to most mature. Come spend a Saturday browsing the market and increasing your knowledge and exposure to the fantastic world of the arts.

This year’s event is being sponsored by The Starving Artist Café, and Fine Arts Center of Easley. Sponsorships are available for this year’s event.
