Two access areas to close temporarily for repairs

UPSTATE — In order to perform planned maintenance work, Duke Energy will temporarily close one boat ramp at Stamp Creek Access Area and all three ramps at Warpath Access Area on Lake Keowee beginning the week of September 22.

Improvements to the Stamp Creek Access Area include replacing the north boat ramp. Guests may continue to launch boats from the south boat ramp which will remain open during construction. Depending on weather conditions, the work at the Stamp Creek Access Area is scheduled to be completed by year end.

Planned enhancements at the Warpath Access Area include new courtesy docks at the existing ramps and repairs to the boat ramps and vehicle turn-around area. The boat ramps at the Warpath Access Area will close to facilitate the work. During this period, guests may launch boats at the Mile Creek County Park located approximately eight miles away at 757 Keowee Baptist Church Road in Six Mile. The work at the Warpath Access Area is scheduled to be completed in January 2015 based on weather conditions.

“These maintenance repairs are part of ongoing efforts by Duke Energy to ensure quality access areas are available to the recreational boating public for use at our lakes,” said John Crutchfield, director of Duke Energy’s public safety and recreation strategy planning services.
