• CAAAM to host Black Business Expo

On Sept. 9, the Clemson Area African American Museum (CAAAM) will host a Black Business Expo at Calhoun Bridge Center. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free to the public.The expo will be an opportunity for Upstate African-American business owners and

entrepreneurs to sell their products and services and showcase their artwork. Light refreshments, hot dogs and fish sandwiches will also be available for sale. Calhoon Bridge Center is located at 214 Butler St. in Clemson.

• Senior center to host annual BBQ

On Aug. 26, the Pickens Community Center/Senior Citizens of Pickens will host their annual fundraising barbecue. On that day the center will also have a bake sale, silent auction and handmade items for sale.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and barbeque will be served until 7 p.m. Menu includes pulled pork, beans, slaw and choice of bottled water, coffee or tea. Cost is $8 per plate in advance and $10 at the door. Desert will be $1 extra. Tickets are available at the Center, 129 School House St. in Pickens Mon-Fri 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Drive thru service is avaiable.

The center needs your help in gathering these items. Please stop by the center or call the center at (864) 878-6000 or Lucy Harward at (864) 419-1794 to let them know items you plan to donate.

The center needs items for the silent auction and handmade items delivered by Aug. 23. Baked items need to be delivered by Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. Donations of money are always welcome. • Dalton family

reunion is Aug. 13

The descendants of Lewis Rector Dalton and Janie Bowen Dalton will gather to share lunch, family memories, stories and news. This year the reunion will be Sunday, Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Ellijean Baptist Church located at 605 Elijean Road off Hwy. 8 between Pickens and Easley. Everyone is encouraged to bring lunch and tea or soft drinks to share. Silverware and paper products will be provided.

• Pun’kin CC meeting planned for Aug. 14

• Anderson family reunion is Aug. 27

The Anderson family reunion is planned for Aug. 27.
The descendants of the late J.R. Anderson and Nancy Anderson will have their annual family reunion at the Mountain Grove Baptist Church fellowship building at 1 p.m. Plates, cups, ice and utensils will be furnished.

• Pickens High Class of 1950 to reunite

The Pickens High School Class of 1950 has planned a reunion on Aug. 26 at the Gatehouse Restaurant in Pickens. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. The Gatehouse is located at 116 Ann St. in Pickens. For more information, contact Betty Baker Chapman at (864) 859-8710.

• Smith Chapel plans men’s, women’s days

Smith Chapel FBH Church will be having Women’s Day and Men’s Day in August.

Women’s Day will be Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. The speaker will be Dr. Susan Frazier Wilson of Apostle FBH Church in Columbia. Men’s Day will be Sunday, Aug. 27, at 4 p.m. The speaker planned is Elder Robert Hogue of Gaffney.
