JOHN “BOBBY” ROBERT FINLEY

EASLEY — John “Bobby” Robert Finley, 78, husband of Sonja Pryor Finley, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Mr. Finley was born in Oconee County, a son of the late William Odis and Bernice Smith Finley. He was a 1958 graduate of Liberty High School, and he retired as a district manager with United Life Insurance Company. Bobby was a member of Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga., Bates Lodge No. 189 A.F.M., and was a Hejaz Shriner. Mr. Finley served our country in the U.S. Army Reserve during the Vietnam era. Mr. Finley enjoyed playing golf.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Bobby is survived by one son, Charles Usry of Clemson; two brothers, Howard Finley (Phyllis) of Liberty and Arland Finley (Bobbie Mae) of North Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Ann Sports (Joe) of North Augusta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Finley was predeceased by one daughter, Jennifer Usry.

The family will host a private memorial service at a later date.

Family members give special thanks to all the nurses at Cottingham Hospice House and to Dr. Daniel Smith for their loving care. Memorials may be made in Bobby’s memory to Cottingham Hospice House, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.

FLORA DILLARD MOORE

LIBERTY — Flora Dillard Moore, 92, went to be with her Lord Saturday, March 2, 2019, at her home in Liberty.

Born in Pickens County, she is the daughter of the late Garvin and Ethel Bagwell Dillard and wife of the late Clifton David Moore.

Mrs. Moore worked in the textile industry, loved her family and loved to cook.

Survivors include one son, David Moore (Rita) of Liberty; two daughters, Joan Renaud of Liberty and Janet Sullivan of Piedmont; three sisters, Helen Porter, Bethel Finley and Ethel McWhorter of Easley; and a daughter-in-law, Joan Alexander Moore. Mrs. Moore also leaves nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren to share in her memory. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Moore was predeceased by a son, Sidney Lee Moore, a granddaughter, LeAne Cecilia Stephanchick, and two sons-in-law, Ronald C. Renaud and Gary E. Sullivan.

ROBERT “BOB” ZERLAUT

LIBERTY — Robert “Bob” Zerlaut passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, after a short illness.

Born in Holton, Mich., he was the son of the late Harold W. Zerlaut and Grace Abbott Zerlaut and husband of Jennifer L. Zerlaut.

Bob was retired from Champion Aerospace in Liberty. He also formerly worked at Amstore in Muskegon, Mich. He enjoyed walks in the woods, watching wildlife, flea markets and teaching himself guitar and banjo.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer, of 45 years; daughter, Shelly Zerlaut Cook; grandsons, Robert W. Zerlaut (Megan), A.J. Crosby and Cody Cook (Arie); three great-granddaughters, Mila, Aryianna and Rory all from Muskegon, Mich.; sister, Susan King of Muskegon, Mich.; brother-in-law, William Worthing of Twin Lake, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Penny Thompson of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Dianna (Scott) Ogborn of New Mexico; son-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Cook of Twin Lake, Mich.; and step-grandson, Robert “Bubba” Cook of Muskegon, Mich. Bob also leaves many nieces and nephews to share in his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen (Margie) and Morris (Ione); and sisters, Arlene (Bill) Worthing and Marylyn (Jim) McCormick.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in Michigan at a later date. Donations may be sent to Hospice of the Upstate, American Cancer Society or American Red Cross.

JANIE KILGORE

LIBERTY — Janie Casey Kilgore, 61, of 196 Diamond Drive, died on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at her residence.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Leroy Casey Sr. and Ruby Holbert Casey. Ms. Kilgore loved her family and loved children. She helped raise many kids during her life and was always willing to help when needed. She attended Rice’s Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Tonia Marlow of Liberty, Kasie Blume of Greenville and Nancy Bagwell, also of Greenville; sons, Tim Marlow of Liberty and Hank Palmer of Greenville; sisters, Mary Raines of Liberty, Shirley Dove of Piedmont and Catherine Mculiff of Greenwood; brothers, Thomas Casey, Douglas Casey and James Casey all of Greenville; three great-nieces of the home; two great-nephews of the home; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

LINDA SUE DUNCAN

EASLEY — Linda Sue Duncan, 57, wife of Anthony McDowell, passed from this life Saturday, March 2, 2019.

She was a daughter of Jeanette Gilliland Duncan of Six Mile and the late Marvin Duncan.

Linda Duncan was an exceptional lady with unremarkable character. She fought for 20-plus years as a dialysis/kidney failure patient. She handled her disabilities with dignity, strength and grace. Linda was a caring, selfless woman who loved her family. She touched so many lives with her presence and her passing was a tremendous loss for her family and friends but what a mighty Angel God has received.

Survivors include her mother, Jeanette (Roger) Duncan; her husband, Anthony McDowell; a son, Shane (Von) Duncan of Elgin; two daughters, Missy (Bryant) Bowens of Easley and Jennifer (Bryan) Stegall of Easley; grandchildren, Anthony Bowens, Cameron Stegall, Mikiah Duncan, Ali Duncan and Nylia Bowens; a great-grandchild, Jayden Patterson; sisters, Patty Holloway and Vicky Chapman; three nephews; and one niece.

Linda was predeceased by her father, Marvin Duncan; two aunts; a special aunt, Elizabeth (Lib) Wilson; and three uncles.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.

DWIGHT T. GILSTRAP

LIBERTY — Dwight Theron Gilstrap, 80, died on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Brookdale in Easley.

Born in Liberty, he was a son of the late Albert B. and Caroline Howe Gilstrap.

Mr. Gilstrap was the owner/operator of LD Enterprise for many years. He was a member of Liberty Masonic Lodge No. 235 AFM, was a Liberty Fire Department volunteer for more than 25 years, and loved to ride motorcycles.

Surviving are a son, Wylie Gilstrap of Liberty; his lifelong companion, Lynda Gilstrap of Liberty; and a granddaughter, Laney Gilstrap of Easley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Gilstrap Jr.

Private entombment will take place at Liberty Memorial Gardens. No formal services are planned.

 FRANCES W. NIX

LIBERTY — Mrs. Frances W. Nix, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at her home.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Hassie Watson and wife of the late Rev. Ralph G Nix.

She is survived by three sons, Glenn Nix of Easley, Dewayne Nix of Liberty and Tony Nix of Madison Heights, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was predeceased by her son, Jerry Nix, and daughter, Diane Nix Childress.

Frances was a longtime member of Lake View Baptist Church and devoted Christian. She will be missed dearly by all of her loved ones.

A funeral service was held at Lake View Baptist Church on Feb. 27. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
