Rickey Carver

Central — Rickey E. Carver, 64, of Central, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.

Mr. Carver was born in Oconee County and was the son of the late Lee Ronald and Margie Goss Carver. He was a master plumber and electrician with Beckwith Plumbing Company in Clemson and attended Five Point Church in Easley.

Surviving are his wife, Lisa Parker Carver; one son, Tyler Lloyd of the home;

two daughters, Bridget Briley of Seneca and Kandy Carver of Newry; and three grandchildren, Tyler Butts, Madison Briley and Conner Briley.

Funeral services were held Sept. 26 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, with burial following in Memory Gardens, Clemson.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Wayne McNeely

Easley — Dennis Wayne McNeely, 68, of Lavonne Avenue, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late James L. McNeely and Ervie Lee Lolley McNeely.

Wayne retired from Alice Manufacturing’s Foster Plant after 40 years of dedicated service and was a member of Arial Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his siblings, Roy McNeely (Debbie) of Easley, Margaret McNeely Ballenger (Mac) of Travelers Rest and Annette Emound (Frank) of Bryant Pond, Maine.

Funeral services were held Sept. 24 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607.

Jeri Cook

Norris — Janice Jeraldine Ashley “Jeri” Cook, 84, of Winding Creek Road, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Honea Path, she was the widow of John Marion Cook Sr. and a daughter of the late Jasper Brown and Ollie Irene Brooks Ashley. She received her bachelor’s of nursing degree from MUSC and retired from Milliken. She enjoyed gardening, painting, traveling and spoiling her grandkids. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Norris, where she was very active in the Winsome Sunday School Class, Kindred Hearts Group and the Alice Johnson Circle as well as parish nursing.

Surviving are a daughter, Tina Cook Kelly (Mack) of Pickens; three sons, John Marion Cook Jr. (Denise) of Norris, Andrew Jasper Cook of Greenwood and William Kenneth Cook of Norris; a sister, Barbara Ann Hall of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Josiah, Samuel, Isaac, Lilligrace, Andrea and Ashley Cook and Noah and Will Kelly; her special longtime friend and special buddy, J.W. Smith; and her beloved companion, Sadie.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Ashley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cook will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at First Baptist Church Norris. Burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park will follow. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30-2 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Cora Lee Bailey

EASLEY — Cora Lee Bailey, 68, of Easley, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Sept. 13, 2017, under the loving care of her family and Hospice.

Cora was born June 12, 1949, in Alger, Ohio, the daughter of Floyd and Nellie (Perkins) Cole. Cora is survived by her husband, James O. Bailey, whom she married on Aug. 14, 1965.

In addition to her loving husband of 52 years, Cora also leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Carolyn Sue of Jackson, Mich.; and three sons: James (Haejung) of Clearfield, Utah, Kurtis (Joy) of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Jeffrey (Christina) of Easley; and six grandchildrenm Ellie, Jeremy, Rachel, Dominic, Michael and Breanna; as well as sister Carolyn Zeskosky and brother John Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings. Cora also loved her two dogs, Baxter and Tabby.

Cora loved the Lord and loved going to church. She was a very strong, loving, dedicated wife and mother who cherished her grandchildren dearly and loved spending time with them. She was also very talented with sewing, cooking, baking and gardening; notably flower gardening, and thoroughly enjoyed shopping.

Funeral services will be held for family and friends at 11 a.m. Sept. 29 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Mich. She will be laid to rest in Albion Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Billy Earl Gwinn

Easley — Billy E. Gwinn, 80, husband of Betty Sue Porter Gwinn, passed from this life Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at his home.

A son of the late Marion and Peggy Rogers Gwinn, he was a graduate of Pickens High School and attended North Greenville College.

Mr. Gwinn was one of the founding members and deacons of Landmark Baptist Church.

He was a superintendent for Jubilee in Texas and Christian Life Boarding Academy in Hattiesburg, Miss., retiring as a builder in Pickens County and as an expeditor with TRX. Following retirement, Billy loved to travel, his work with the church and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of the home, children, Susan (Rick) Chapman and Bill (Nadine) Gwinn; grandchildren, Trisha (Ryan) Hand, Benjamin Gilliam, Logan Gwinn and Michael Childers; great-grandchildren, Emerson Green, Porter and Crawford Hand and Emma Rae Keables; siblings, Bobbie Gwinn, Roger (Ann) Gwinn, Robert A. “Cooter” (Gail) Gwinn and Peggy Ann (Gary) Durham.

The family of Mr. Gwinn would like to express their appreciation to Alan Clark of Interim Health and Providence Health Care for the care they provided during a difficult time.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Landmark Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

James Caro Jenkins

Pickens — James Caro Jenkins, 61, husband of Sarah Crenshaw Jenkins, went to be with the Lord Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Jenkins was born in Bryson City, N.C., son of the late Iris Sitton Jenkins and Hugh Brendle Jenkins. As a child, Mr. Jenkins attended Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Whittier, N.C.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Brennen and Ryan Massengill of Asheville, N.C.; one sister, June Leonard of Cullowhee, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Betty Crenshaw of Charlotte, N.C.

Services were held Sept. 26 at Mountain View Funeral Home.

Mr. Jenkins was predeceased by his parents and grandparents, but had a special relationship with James and Fannie Sitton.

Nancy Lee Hallock

PICKENS — Nancy Lee Hallock, 83, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017.

Nancy was a member of Pickens Presbyterian Church and the past president of The Pickens Better Home and Garden Club.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob”; two children, Brian (Pamela) Hallock of Easley and Linda (Gerry) Sweeney of Chelmsford, Mass.; grandchildren, Richard Hallock, Christine Hallock, Rob Sweeney and Maura Sweeney; and daughter-in-law, Mei Hwa Hallock.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Lee and Mildred Carpenter Lee; a son, Michael Hallock; and her sister, Eleanor Rothas.

A celebration of Nancy’s life was held on Sept. 23 at the home

Linda S. Simmons

Easley — Linda Sudduth Simmons, 72, wife of Joel P. Simmons, passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at her home.

Born in Easley, she was the daughter of the late Herman F. and Pearl Josie Rampey Sudduth. Linda graduated from Easley High School, Class of 1963. She retired from First Baptist Church Easley after 25 years of service in the child development center.

Linda was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years, are her three daughters, Stacey Simmons Dotson (Tommy) of Easley; Gretchen Simmons Carpenter (Bryan) of Pickens; and Jeanna Simmons; seven grandchildren, Chloe Dotson, Madelyn Dotson, Beyla Carpenter, Ozzie Carpenter, Isabella Dotson, Rebecca Dotson and Pearla Carpenter; her siblings, Marvin Sudduth (deceased) and his wife, Violet Sudduth, Troy Sudduth (Joyce), Mary Ann Stansell (Bruce “Red”, deceased); and Barbara Cameron (James “Cam”); and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sept. 24 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, with Dr. David Gallamore officiating, with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

David McCall

Easley — James David McCall, 78, of Easley, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017.

Born on Aug. 23, 1939, in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Vennie Martin McCall.

Mr. McCall was retired from Vulcan Materials in Liberty after 39 years of dedicated service and was of the Church of God faith. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Jo Morton McCall of the home; a daughter, Donna Holmes (Tim); grandsons, Dillon Holmes and Dalton Holmes (Kelsey); a great-grandson, Julian Holmes; and siblings, Betty Gilreath, Dannis McCall, Stanley McCall and Larry McCall.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Sept. 23 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with entombment following in Robinson Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.

David Reece McClain

Piedmont — David Reece McClain, 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017.

Mr. McClain was born in Warner Robins, Ga., son of Mamie Sue Chafin McClain and the late Jessie Martin McClain. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include one sister, Janice McAbee (Randy) of Piedmont; one brother, Ricky McClain (Angela) of Fountain Inn; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. McClain was predeceased by his father; sister, Martha Bayne; and brother, Mark Anthony McClain.

Services were held Sept. 25 at Siloam Baptist Church.

Richard McClellan

Liberty — Richard Thomas McClellan, 42, of 114 Lee St., died Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at AnMed Health Cannon Hospital.

Born in Easley, Richard was the son of Tommy R. McClellan of the home and the late Nancy Prince McClellan. Richard was a 1993 graduate of Liberty High School and was employed with Data Trac. He loved music, but more especially college and NFL football. He was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving in addition to his father is a sister, Annette McClellan of the home.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. McClellan will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson. Private burial will take place at a later date at Westview Cemetery.

Carolyn Sue Bradley Sheppard

Pickens — Carolyn Sue Bradley Sheppard, 70, went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Capstone Easley.

Mrs. Sheppard was born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Essie Mae Kelley Bradley and William Theodore Bradley.

Survivors include one son, Shane (Crystal) Sheppard of Pickens; one granddaughter, Candice Fisher (Adam) of Easley; three brothers, Bobby Bradley (Doris), Johnny Bradley (Pat) and Jimmy Bradley; two sisters, Evelyn Reece and Ruth Ann Bradley Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sheppard was predeceased by her parents; husband, Junior Sheppard; two sons, Mark and Lyn Sheppard; three brothers, Bill, Douglas and David Bradley; and two sisters, Louise Smith and Dorothy Corn.

Graveside services were held Sept. 21 at Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
