FRANCES MAHAFFEY

LIBERTY — Frances Elizabeth Duncan Mahaffey, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2019, at Pruitt Health in Six Mile.

Born in Salem, she was the widow of Vernon Mahaffey and a daughter of the late William “Tom” and Mittie Stewart Duncan. Mrs. Mahaffey was retired from Libco Mills and she loved spending time outdoors tending to her flowers. She was a longtime member of Calumet Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.

Surviving are two sons, Billy Vernon Mahaffey (Janis) and Terry Wayne “Ted” Mahaffey (Darlene), both of Seneca; two brothers, Junior and Virgil Duncan, both of Pickens; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Faye Mahaffey; four sisters, Evelyn Thomas, Magdaline Cooper, Louise Galloway and Juanita Childs; and two brothers, Doyle A. Duncan and Calvin Duncan.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mahaffey were held on April 18 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Burial followed at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Calumet Baptist Church Building Fund, 400 S. Peachtree St., Liberty, SC 29657.

ESTELLA COX DODSON

PICKENS — Estella Cox Dodson, 90, wife of the late James Paul Dodson, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019, in Pickens County.

Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late George and Grace Cox. She was a member at Midway Baptist Church who very much enjoyed quilting and gardening, and she never missed a yard sale. She was retired from a 31-year career with the Singer Company.

She is survived by three daughters, Paula Anderson and her husband, Donnie, Grace Pownee Clayburn and Patricia Raye Ferguson and her husband, Gerald; two sons, James Waco Dodson and his wife, Georgia Ann, and Carl Watzel Dodson and his wife, Kathy; one brother, TJ Cox; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one son, George Waldo Dodson; two sisters, Georgie Camilla Goodwin and Betty Jean Youngblood; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on April 18 in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Rudy Smith officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

CRESSIE L. ROY

EASLEY — Cressie Lucille Byers Roy, 80, wife of Lyle Albert Roy, passed from this life on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at her home.

Mrs. Roy was born in Morristown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Jess and Pearl Moore Byers. She was a homemaker and was formerly a home health care aide. Mrs. Roy was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Lyle of the home; sons, John Roy (Terry) of Easley, Christopher Roy (Pamela) of Liberty, Phillip Roy of Easley and Nathan Roy (Tanya) of Easley; daughters Judy Cox (Russ) of Jonesboro, Tenn., and Janet Stewart (James) of White Lake, Mich.; two daughters-in-law, Annette Roy and Ruth Roy; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by two sons, Lyle D. Roy and Steven Roy.

A funeral service was held on April 19 at Dillard Funeral Home in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Burial was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

KATHY CONNELLY

LIBERTY — Kathy Ann Connelly, 56, of 116 Ridge Court, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at her home.

Born in Easley, she was a daughter of Barbara Chandler and the late Butler Frank “B.F.” Jones.

Surviving, in addition to her mother of the home, are her fiancé, Adrian Morris of the home; a son, Christopher S. “Shaun” Jones Sr. of Seneca; a sister, Crystal Williamson; two brothers, Frank and Chad Jones; and three grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Angel Jones and Christopher Jones Jr.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Connelly.

Graveside services to honor Kathy’s life were conducted on April 18 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

CHARLES E. STANCIL

CATEECHEE — Charles E. Stancil, 76, of 408 N. Church St., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2019, at his home.

Born in Cateechee, he was the husband of Faye Snider Stancil of the home and a son of the late Melvin and Florene Owens Stancil. He was retired from Liberty Denim and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Charlene Johnson (Mike), Tressy Whitmire (Tommy) and Kimberly Stancil, all of Cateechee; two sons, Tim Stancil (Lisa) and David Stancil (Carmen), all of Cateechee; four grandchildren, Brandon and Deanna Johnson, Stephanie Anthony and Alicia Chapman; and one great-granddaughter, Adalynn Chapman.

SANDRA “SANDY” ROBERTSON MASON

EASLEY — Sandra “Sandy” Robertson Mason, 69, of Easley, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Greenville Memorial Hospital due to injuries she sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Lee and Edna Mae Richardson Robertson. Ms. Mason loved spending time with her family, and close friends, she especially loved being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog, Kylie Rose. Ms. Mason was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.

Ms. Mason is survived by one son, Joey Mason of Six Mile; one daughter, Tammy McCauley (Craig) of Charleston; a daughter-in-law, Pam Mason of Six Mile; seven grandchildren, Brently Lord (Lacey), Aaron Lord (Jasmine), Dylan Lord (Anna), Madison Lord, Brad Mason, Tim Mason and Jacob Mason; three step-grandchildren, Catie McCauley, Cody McCauley and Carson McCauley; seven great-grandchildren, Koen Lord, Jackson Mould, Lily Lord, Kyler Eichinger, Raelyn Lord, Riley Lord and Hayden Mason; and many special friends and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Mason was predeceased by one brother, Danny Lee Robertson.

The family will announce a memorial service at a later date.

RICHARD TILLOTSON

LIBERTY — Richard Elwin Tillotson, 78, of Liberty, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Montpelier, Vt., he was a son of the late Albert Ray and Alice Poland Tillotson.

He worked as a police officer in Weare, N.H., and later retired from AT&T. Throughout his career, he was a broadcast engineer for television and radio stations, including ETV Channel 29 and Channel 16, both on Paris Mountain.

Mr. Tillotson loved to fly and was a HAM radio operator. He was a United States Air Force veteran and served in military intelligence and was a member of the Frank D. Callaham American Legion Post No. 67 where he was the chaplain.

He was a member of Calumet Baptist Church, where he taught the Pace Bible Sunday school class and also helped with the youth class.

Richard was a longtime member of the Sam Poe Masonic Lodge No. 284 AFM.

Surviving are his wife, Kathaleen Reynolds Tillotson of the home; four sons, James Shannon Tillotson (Christine) of Dallas, Ga., John Paul Tillotson of Hudson, Fla., Casey Andrew Tillotson of Liberty, and David Ray Tillotson (Martha) of Easley; a brother, Norman Kent Tillotson (Linda) of Easley; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services to honor the life of Mr. Tillotson will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at Calumet Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

PATSY F. WATSON

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Patsy F. Watson, 83, of Titusville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 27, 1935, to the late Johnny and Pearline Fields in Easley, Patsy was a member of Mims United Methodist Church and worked for many years with Time Warner Company.

She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, the Pilot Club and enjoyed square dancing, camping and traveling in their RV. Other than her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Watson, sister, Janice Jennings, and brothers, Donnie and Gene Fields. She will be greatly missed by her son, David (Pam) Watson; daughter, Becky (Frank) Efkovics; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda Wilson, and brother, Tommy (Elizabeth) Fields.

Funeral services were held April 22 at North Brevard Funeral Home.

MICHAEL LOGAN EDWARDS

EASLEY — Michael Logan Edwards, 25, husband of Desiree Gilbert Edwards, passed from this life Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Born in Greenville County, Logan is a son of Michael Slade Edwards and Jodi Henson Stewart. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, but also enjoyed woodworking and playing his guitar. Logan loved his two dogs, Baylor and Koda.

Survivors include his parents; his wife Desiree; two sons, Chaz and Gabe of the home; a daughter, Logan Leighann; and two brothers, Ethan Stewart and Brayden Stewart of Liberty.

Logan was predeceased by a sister, Megan Leighann Stewart; a grandfather, Mike Edwards; and a grandmother, Linda Carter.

Visitation will be held from 1-2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at Roanoke Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Zach Nix and the Rev. Ronnie Powell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

WYNEL LEWIS

LIBERTY —Wynel Craft Lewis, 71, of 6417 Old Greenville Highway, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at her home.

Born in Belton, she was the widow of Steven Lewis and a daughter of the late Glenn and Twyla Hall Craft.

She retired from the Department of Social Services and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, April Bell (Bobby) of Liberty; a stepson, Alex Lewis (Cheryl) of Spartanburg; two sisters, Sheri Price of Belton and Stephanie Thomas of Anderson; six grandchildren, Logan, Rylee, Gatlin, and Kensie Bell, and Rebecca and Parker Lewis; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Wakely.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Gattis.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lewis will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, at East Side Baptist Church. Burial will be at Garden of Memories in Belton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service in the church sanctuary
