Hope, Tate exchange wedding vows during sunrise ceremony

On April 8, local teacher Louise Hope and local photographer Douglas Tate hiked to Bald Knob on Pinnacle Mountain to exchange wedding vows at sunrise.

Table Rock State Park offers four sunrise hikes every year — two in the spring and two in the autumn. The hikes are led by park ranger Scott Stegenga. Scott led the wedding party along with several other hikers to Bald Knob starting at 3:30 a.m., arriving in time to watch the sun as it crested the mountains.

The nuptials began just before sunrise, officiated by Nath Briley of Pickens Presbyterian Church, with Scott Stegenga acting as witness and ringbearer. Doug’s daughter, Amanda Roeben of Amanda Roeben Artistry, acted as event photographer.
