New Scouts in Troop 51

Scout Troop 51 in Pickens recently welcomed five new Scouts who crossed over from Webelos. The new Scouts are, front row, from right: Payden Weiss, Noah Elgin, Cayden Rutledge, Eric Parker and Jayson Herring and the rest of the troop. They have already endured one of the troop’s “favorite” outings — camping in the rain. So far this year, Troop 51 has several camping trips, a backpacking trip on the Chattooga River and service projects. For the remainder of the year, the troop will be going to summer camp, a canoe/camping trip on the Edisto River, kayaking on Lake Keowee, camping with other Scout troops at Kings Mountain and camping in North Carolina.

Suzy Chappell

Central — Rhonda Lynn “Suzy” Hendricks Chappell, 54, of 302 Taylor St., died Monday, May 22, 2017, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Born in Easley, she was the daughter of Carol Glenda Hughes Chastain of Central and the late Jesse Ruben Hendricks. She had previously worked at American Funeral Financial and was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving, in addition to her mother of Central, are two daughters, Stephanie Hopkins of Liberty and Brittany Chappell of Belton; six grandchildren, Tim Swaney, McKenzie Swaney, Jesi Trotter, Chase Hopkins, Everleigh Greer and Tiffany
