Pack 51 planning Pinewood Derby

PICKENS — Cub Scout Pack 51 is inviting all area first responders to participate in the annual Pinewood Derby competition.

Emergency officials’ attendance will give Cub Scouts an opportunity to meet and engage with local first responders while enjoying a fun event.

The derby will take place on April 1 at the Pickens Amphitheater. Although the time is not yet finalized, the event will be in the morning, likely around 10 a.m., according to organizers.

The derby is an annual, family-oriented event focused on fun and good sportsmanship. Competition

PCSO: Man arrested after foot chase

CENTRAL — The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office says a man faces multiple charges, including escape, after a brief foot chase last week.

According to a news release, deputies with the sheriff’s office’s Community Action Team responded to a home in Central on Thursday in search of William Grover Bearden, wanted for outstanding arrest warrants.

Easley man faces charges after fight with deputies

EASLEY — An Easley man faces multiple charges, including resisting arrest, after an altercation with deputies earlier this month.

According to a Pickens County Sheriff’s Office release, deputies with the agency’s Community Action Team responded to an Easley home on Jan. 18 in search of Jeremy Charles Moore, who was wanted for outstanding arrest warrants.

Upon arrival, deputies saw Moore standing in the doorway of an outbuilding on the property, the release said.
