Local smoke shops under investigation

COUNTY — Agencies inside and outside Pickens County joined forces recently to investigate smoke shops in the area.

According to a release issued by the Easley Police Department on Nov. 12, search warrants were executed that day on multiple smoke shops within the city of Easley as a part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

LHS football coach retires

LIBERTY — Coming off Liberty High School’s season ending loss on Friday night, Liberty head football Paul Sutherland announced his retirement on Monday.

Sutherland joined Liberty in 2021, bringing decades of experience and a proven track record. Before his time with the Red Devils, he led programs at Pendleton High School for 17 seasons and at Franklin County HighSchool in Georgia for three years. His overall head coaching record stands at 161-116.

Pickens restores historic outdoor warning siren

PICKENS —  At the direction of Mayor Isaiah Scipio, the City of Pickens has undertaken the restoration and reinstallation of a historic outdoor warning siren to strengthen community preparedness and emergency notification capabilities.

Over the next few weeks, crews will install a fully restored Federal Signal STH10 outdoor warning siren on the water tank located behind the shops on East Main Street.
