Christie Seay Head

EASLEY — Jewel Christine “Christie” Head, 62, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Vivian Alexander Seay, Christie retired from Michelin with 25 years of service and was a member of 5 Point Fellowship. Christie loved spending time with her grandson, Kayne, who was the apple of her eye.

Surviving are her daughter, Candi Aiken of Easley; her grandson, Kayne Aiken of Easley; a brother, Steve Seay (Robin) of Easley; and two sisters, Janet Morgan (Bill) of Pickens and Patty Lamb (Kenny) of Inman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family is at the home.

Harold Powell

PICKENS — Harold Powell, 83, passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at his home.

Born in Pickens County he was a son of the late Clarence and Hattie Porter Powell. Mr. Powell was a veteran of the United States military.

Survivors include a son, Fulton Powell of Pickens; one brother; and four sisters.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Garvin Powell; and seven brothers.

A celebration of Harold’s life was held Nov. 6 in the Fellowship Building of Pickens Independent Baptist Church. Burial will take place at a later date in the cemetery of Red Hill Baptist Church.

James “Eric” Wallis Jr.

WEST UNION — James “Eric” Wallis Jr., 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday Nov. 3, 2017.

He is the son of the late James Wallis Sr. and Laura Craig Wallis.

Mr. Wallis graduated in 1962 from Clemson University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He had a lifelong career in the HVAC industry, where he gained many friendships.

As a beloved father, Papa and brother, he leaves behind two sons, Jimmy Wallis III (Brenda) of Salem and David Craig Wallis (Kimberly) of Knoxville, Tenn.; one daughter, Adeana Lopez of Ellicott City, Md.; and two sisters, Nancy Wallis of Easley and Mary Wallis of Pickens. Mr. Wallis also leaves to share in his memory seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Dillard Funeral Home. A service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Craig Family Cemetery.

Wanda Wallace Galbreath

PENDLETON — Wanda Wallace Galbreath went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday Nov. 2, 2017.

She was born Feb. 14, 1941, to the late James and Elsie Foxx Wallace.

She was preceded in death by husbands Jesse Swaney and Morris Galbreath and a brother, Alfred Wallace.

She is survived by a son, Jessie Todd; daughters, Cynthia Mullinax, Renee Campbell, Kim Swaney, Becky Crayne and Dollie Carver; brother, Kevin Wallace; sisters, Pat Walker, Barbara Evans and Stella Manzolillo; 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Nov. 4 at Corinth Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Tate officiating. Burial followed in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home of Seneca is in charge of the arrangements.

Marian Halford Barksdale

SIX MILE — Marian Halford Barksdale, 86, wife of the late Asa Wade Barksdale, passed away from this life Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, in Six Mile.

Mrs. Barksdale was born in Batesburg, a daughter of the late Mary Jaudon Deloach Halford and James Dorman Halford.

She was employed at Rabun Family Dentistry until getting her associate in nursing at Tri-County Technical College in 1985. She also worked at Oakmont Nursing Home in Berea, Clemson Downs and Easley Baptist Medical Hospital. She was very detailed and to the point about her charting skills.

She enjoyed sewing and cake decorating, as well as swimming, foreign and domestic missions, and also teaching Sunday school, and many other hobbies.
Survivors include one daughter, Rose Mary B. Hayes (Walker) of Pickens; one son, Darron Barksdale of Easley; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Nov. 4 at the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barksdale was predeceased by her husband, parents, one daughter, Lisa Jaudon Barksdale, one son, Danny Halford Barksdale, one sister, Virginia Collins, three brothers, J.D. Halford, Robert Young Halford and James Todd Halford, and one niece, Marti Stevens.

Roger Chastain

Easley — Mr. Roger Dale Chastain Sr., 62, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Hallmark Healthcare Center in Summerville.

Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Harold Clayton Chastain and the late Mildred Marjorie Gossett Chastain, Mr. Chastain retired from the city of Easley.

Surviving are two sons, Roger Dale Chastain Jr. and Jason Leroy Chastain, both of Pickens; two daughters, Sonya Reahard (Chris) of Summerville and Frances Black of Greenville; four brothers, Donnie Chastain of Liberty, David Chastain of Easley, James Chastain of Six Mile and Walter Chastain of Pendleton; two sisters, Lynn Barnes of Six Mile and Susan Edmond of Easley; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chastain was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Smith.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at United Wesleyan Church, Easley.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Family members are at their respective homes.

Charlene Jamie LaFoy

PICKENS — Charlene Jamie LaFoy, 55, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at her home.

Miss LaFoy was born in Pickens County, the daughter of Faye Alexander Maxwell of Pickens and the late Charles Jimmy Lafoy. She retired from textiles.

Surviving are two sons, Dusty Ray Edmonds (Brittany) and Jason Lane Edmonds (Erin), all of Taylors; and four grandchildren, Isabella, Laila, Bristol and Bailey Edmonds.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
