JIM HOLLIDAY

SIX MILE — Jim Holliday, 90, loving husband of 67 years to Martha B. Holliday, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Born on Sept. 23, 1935, in Six Mile, Jim was the cherished son of the late John D. Holliday and Vaudie Dillard Holliday. A lifelong resident of Six Mile, he faithfully lived out his Christian values and was a charter and still active member of Ridgeland Drive Baptist Church. Jim found purpose and joy in the rhythms of country life, such as gardening, farming, raising livestock and keeping up with the sports he loved. Above all, he held his family close to his heart and treasured every moment spent with them.

Survivors include his wife, Martha B. Holliday of the home; son, Ray Holliday (Donna) of Six Mile; daughter, Leigh Thomas (Bob) of Seneca; and grandchildren, Jon, Holliday and Howie.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Holliday was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.

A visitation was held on Nov. 30 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s honor may be made to Ridgeland Drive Baptist Church, 185 Ridgeland Drive, Six Mile, SC 29682, or to the charity of your choice.

SAMUEL LOPEZ

EASLEY — Samuel Lopez, 57, loving husband of 11 years to Diana Lopez, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at his home.

Born on Oct. 24, 1968, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Samuel was the cherished son of the late David Lopez and Marina Arroyo Lopez. A devoted worshipper, Samuel shared his gifts as a talented musician and percussionist, pouring his heart into every rhythm he played.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Lopez; daughter, Briana Lopez; sons, Elisha Lopez, Elijah Vega and Nicolas Nieves; aunt, Dee Lopez; uncle, Archie Lopez and his wife, Josie; and his beloved beagles, Max and Zachary.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lopez was predeceased by his brothers, Efraim Lopez and Ruben Lopez.

The family will hold a memorial service that will be announced at a later date.

WILLIAM H. ‘BILL’ JAMES

CENTRAL — William H. “Bill” James, 79, loving husband of 54 years to Brenda Trotter James, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Dec. 31, 1945, in Easley, Bill was the cherished son of the late John James and Ella Mae Young James. A man grounded in faith, he found joy in the simple and meaningful work of life. Bill loved spending time outdoors and took great pride in mechanic work and carpentry, often using his skills to help those around him. He cared deeply for many and was deeply loved in return, but above all, he treasured his family with all his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Trotter James of the home; son, John James of Central; granddaughter, Alexis Lee James; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. James was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher Matthew James.

The family will hold a memorial service, with details to be announced at a later date.

WILLIAM EDWARD ‘EDDIE’ WOODWARD

TRAVELERS REST — William Edward “Eddie” Woodward, 54, loving husband of 21 years to Kimberly Dawn Jones Woodward, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.

Born on April 27, 1971, in Orangeburg County, Eddie was the cherished son of William David Woodward and the late Connie Bates McCollum. A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Eddie carried with him a steadfast sense of duty and strength throughout his life.

He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy and peace in hunting, fishing and spending time in nature. Eddie also had a deep love for sports, especially football, baseball and golf, and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He cherished every moment spent with his family, always making time to be present for the people he loved most. His dedication to his children was unwavering — whether coaching their sports teams or cheering them on in every activity, he was their constant source of support and pride.

A true perfectionist in all that he did, he took great care in his business, his yard, his vehicle and even the way he dressed. While his attention to detail could sometimes test one’s patience, it was also one of the most endearing qualities that made him uniquely himself.

Above all, he was a man of his word. Dependable to his core, he was the kind of person you could always call in a moment of need, knowing without question that he would show up.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Jones Woodward of the home; daughter, Adyson Rhea Woodward of the home; son, William Layten Woodward of the home; father, William David Woodward (Robin) of Orangeburg; siblings, Travis Woodward (Shea) of Hanahan, Troy Woodward (Jenny) of St. Matthews, Damon Bell (Crystal) of St. Matthews, Michael Bell (Susan) of Charleston, and Steven Bell (Lisa) of Charlotte, N.C.; special aunts, Allison Berry (Barry), and Kay Jackson (Ted); in-laws, Vicki Clary Charlotte and Bobby Jones (Lynn); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eddie also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Kingston and Cozmo, who brought him constant companionship and joy.

Mr. Woodward was predeceased by his mother, Connie Bates McCollum.

The family will hold a memorial service, with details to be announced at a later date.

KATHY JEAN MCMANIS

LIBERTY — Kathy Jean McManis of Liberty passed away on Nov. 25, 2025, at the age of 70.

Born on May 24, 1955, in Humboldt, Tenn., she was the daughter to Jane Wall and the late Harry Gene Wall.

Kathy was a faithful member of The Mill Church in Pickens and enjoyed many types of crafts. She especially loved cross-stitching. She was deeply devoted to her family and her loving husband. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed taking them camping with her husband. Her love for children extended into her career as a preschool teacher at Easley Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Michael McManis; son, Steven McManis (Valerie); daughter, Alicia Owens (Stephen); grandchildren, Michaela Owens, Taylor Owens, Kayden McManis, Grady McManis and Kate Owens; a great-granddaughter soon to arrive, Bristol Jean Burleigh; and sisters, Bevie Scarbrough and Teresa Smith.

A visitation was held Nov. 30 at Dillard Funerals and Cremation, followed by a funeral service and a committal service following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.

KEN BAILEY

LIBERTY — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clyde Kenneth Bailey, who left us peacefully on Nov. 26, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on Nov. 24, 1938, in Anderson, Ken spent his life as a beloved husband, father, and friend to many.

His working career began as a fireman for the Anderson Fire Department. He later dedicated 22 years of his life to Amoco as a machine operator, embodying the commitment and work ethic that defined his approach to life. In addition to his work at Amoco, he provided part-time support at McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson and Gray Mortuary in Pelzer, showcasing his compassionate nature and desire to help others in their times of need.

Ken was a man of many talents. He possessed a beautiful voice and had a passion for singing that brought joy to those around him. He was a dedicated member of the Pickens Church of God.

He leaves behind his soulmate and love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Linda Ann Bailey; his daughter, Lisa Parker (Trent); and his son, James Bailey (Anita). Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Services to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. He will be laid to rest at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from noon-1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

JUNE MARILYN BLACK

EASLEY — June Marilyn Black, of Easley passed away at her home on Nov. 30, 2025.

Born on Oct. 3, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Seth Dorr and Nina Garren Dorr. She retired after 32 years as an elementary school teacher in Florida shaping the minds of the children she taught. After her move to South Carolina, she attended West End Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully until her health declined. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and had a passion for reading and sewing.

Marilyn is survived by David and Lisa Cassell, whom she referred to as her children adopted in love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five husbands, Clinton Cook, Ernest Anthony, Sylvester Kolarik, Merton Dungerow and Charles Black; sister, Linda D. Williams; and brothers, Stanley Dorr and Eric Dorr.

A viewing for Marilyn will be held from 4-6 p.m. Dec. 3 at Dillard Funeral Home, located at 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway in Pickens.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at West End Baptist Church, located at 120 Mission Drive in Easley.

BRENDA RIDER HUNSUCKER

PICKENS — Brenda Rider Hunsucker, 68, loving wife of 24 years to Tony Hunsucker, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 30, 1957, in Greenville, Brenda was the cherished daughter of the late Claude Rider and Emma Eades Rider. She was known for her joyful spirit and her generous heart, always ready with a laugh and always eager to help others. Brenda found comfort and happiness in gardening and cooking, creating beauty and warmth in everything she touched. She loved her family deeply, especially her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also shared a special bond with her faithful cat, Chewie, who was always by her side.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Hunsucker of the home; sons, Jason Hunsucker (Jennifer) of Simpsonville, and Kyle Hunsucker (Nicole) of Dacusville; grandchildren, Braden Gosnell, Tyler Hunsucker, Jacob Hunsucker, Josie Hunsucker, Grace Sutherland, and Emma Sutherland; siblings, Marie Wykle (Keith), Shelia Gillespie, William Rider (Lynn), and Terry Lee Rider; and nieces and nephews, Juanita Hoshauer, Sherry Murray, April Hendricks, Leonard Gillespie, Amanda Stewart, Avery Rider, Emily Rider, Ann McCall, Katie Wright, and Josh Rider.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunsucker was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Gosnell.

A celebration of life service will be held from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 8 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens.

J.L. REDDING

EASLEY — J.L. Redding, 72, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at Baptist Easley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Feb. 10, 1953, in Greenville County, J.L. was the cherished son of the late Luther and Velma Redding. He had a lifelong passion for racing, finding joy both behind the wheel and in the hours spent building and perfecting his racecar. J.L. was also proud of his career as a truck driver, a profession that suited his love for the open road. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and fulfillment.

Survivors include his siblings, Mary Spangler (Roger), Doris Collins, Dorothy Morgan (Buddy), Reba Powell, Julie Duckworth, Martha Martin, Earl Redding, Cleve Redding, Sheila Fortescue (Shea) and Scott Redding; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Redding was predeceased by his sister, Linda Cisson; brothers-in-law, David Cisson, Grady Collins, Jerry S. Martin, Ray Duckworth, and Dickie Powell; and nephews, Brian Morgan and Stanley Collins.

GLORIA MILES SQUIRES

CENTRAL — Gloria Miles Squires, 84, of Central, entered into eternal life on Nov. 30, 2025.

She had a deep love for Jesus, her husband John, her children and grandchildren and her friends. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Walter Leon Miles and Lillie Easter Owens Miles.

She graduated from Blaney High School and went on to earn her nursing degree through a training program sponsored by Camden Hospital. She worked in local doctors’ offices in Camden and later at Kershaw County Medical Center and Karesh Wing Long Term Care. She loved being a nurse and caring for her family and others.

Gloria lived in Camden most of her life, moving with her husband in 2019 to be closer to family. She was blessed by multiple longtime friends, Algie, Barbara, Miriam, Sarah, Martin and Olivia. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family, practicing her Master Gardener skills, reading, feeding her hummingbirds and watching Wheel of Fortune.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Ellison Squires; daughter, Janice Squires Withycombe (Greg); grandchildren, Jessica Withycombe and Jordan Withycombe-Green (Erik); daughter-in-law, Robin Eubanks Squires; and Lisa, her caring aide and friend for multiple years.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Alan Squires; and her siblings: Doris Fulmer, Faye Duich, Oliver “Buster” Miles, William “Billy” Miles, Emma Dora Bilbo, Mildred Branham and Betty Poole.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Gloria’s memory to Cannon Memorial Church’s building fund (P.O. Box 758, Central, SC 29630). In concordance with Gloria’s wishes, the family will hold a private event to celebrate her life.

JO ANN DURHAM SLATTON

PICKENS — Jo Ann Durham Slatton, of Pickens, passed away on Nov. 30, 2025, at the age of 80.

She was born on June 11, 1945, in Six Mile, to the late Christine and Archie Durham.

Jo Ann was a longtime member of Mile Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Tony M. Slatton; her son, Kelly M. Slatton (Tina); her grandsons, Sullivan Slatton and Garner Slatton; and her sisters, Geneva Hayton (Marcial) and Edna Watson (Gary).

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her two brothers, Thomas and Danny Durham.

A visitation will be held on Dec. 3, from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home, located at 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the same location.

A committal service is scheduled to follow, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy.
