JOHN ROBERT ‘BOBBY’ HAYES

PICKENS — John Robert “Bobby” Hayes, 94, of Pickens, passed away on May 27, 2026.

Born in Pickens on May 31, 1931, to Daniel Moses “Mode” Hayes Sr. and Elizabeth “Bessie” Hayes (nee La Foy), John graduated from Pickens High School in 1949 as the vice president of his graduating class. He worked at Neely’s Store in Pickens and Blue Ridge Electric before joining the United States Air Force in 1950. He married his high school sweetheart, Edna Mae Willis, in 1953, and later retired from the United States Air Force in 1977 after honorably serving for 28 years. John received the Meritorious Service Medal, the civilian version of the Bronze Star, as part of his accomplishments in the military. After his retirement, he worked in the Middle East for 15 years, in Tehran, Iran, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with Daniel Construction, and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, for ARAMCO Oil Company.

John is survived by daughters, Victoria Lynn Hayes Ray of Arvada, Colo., and Elizabeth Ann Hayes of Pickens; grandchildren, Jordan William Ray (Cassandra) of Arvada, Colo., and Stewart Mackenzie Ray of Missoula, Mont.; great-grandchildren, Cameron William Ray and Sophia Caroline Ray of Arvada, Colo.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Edna Mae Willis Hayes; and four siblings, William Elbert (Tim) Hayes, Inez Hayes Hughes, Leander Hayes Dodgens and Daniel Moses (D.M.) Hayes Jr., all of Pickens.

A graveside service was held on June 2 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

JANE OWEN DUCKWORTH

CLEMSON — Jane Owen Duckworth, 87, of Clemson, passed away from this life on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ed Duckworth. She is survived by her sister, Nan Wilson of Newport Beach, Calif.; three children Jim, Jeff and Leeanne; seven grandchildren, Alex, Aly, Haley, Jake, Kaitlyn, Trace and Mary Elaina; and two great-grandchildren Lily and Scottie.

A native of Chase City, Va., she attended Chase City High school where she graduated as a valedictorian. Jane graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C., with a degree in education.  She started her career as an elementary school teacher in Clemson. She was a beloved teacher until she decided to be a stay-at-home mom after having children.

Jane always put family first. This led to thousands of miles behind the wheel of a car traveling to baseball games, softball games, basketball games and tennis tournaments.  If there was something one of her kids wanted to do, she was always willing to go the extra mile to make it happen.

Outside of family, her biggest passion was Clemson University. A member of the President’s Leadership Circle, she co-chaired the Will to Lead athletics capital campaign committee; was chair of the tennis capital campaign committee; and supported the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts, scholarships for the College of Business and Behavioral Science, and the Samuel J Cadden Chapel.  This involvement led to her being named Clemson University Honorary Alumni in 2016.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Clemson, followed by a gathering in the church’s fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations be made to the Duckworth Family Tennis Endowment, First Baptist Church of Clemson, or Cottingham Hospice House.

WYLENE GALLOWAY KING

EASLEY — Mrs. Wylene Galloway King, 102, wife of the late Arvel Kendall King, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Born April 10, 1924, in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar S. Galloway, Sr. and the late Lou Annie Bryant Galloway.

She attended Pickens High School and retired from Alice Manufacturing Company. Mrs. King was a lifelong member of United Wesleyan Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School in the early years.

She was one of 13 children.

Wylene loved sewing, reading and singing, but her greatest love was for her family and her grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by all that loved and knew her.

She was predeceased by a son, Doug King; four brothers, Winfred Galloway, Oscar S. Galloway Jr., Dewey Galloway and Joe Galloway; and eight sisters, Eulalia Gause, Christine Cochran, Bernice Mosley, Eunice Bagwell, Dillie Everingham, Annas Houston, Onese Galloway and Gerlene Galloway.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rosemary Thomas (Bruce) of Columbia; her sons, Stan King (Gail), Phil King (Gail) and Hendrix King (Janice), all of Easley; 14 grandchildren, Russell King (Tammy), Melinda Savage (David), Dr. Charles King (Wendy), Mandy Norris (Patrick), McClure King (Mackenzie), McCreight King (Sarah Kathryn), McClain King (Kristy), Dobson King, John King (Kristian), Brian Mercier (Hileri), Ginger Cash (Brett), Meredith Anderson (Ricky), Angela Thomas and E.C. Thomas; 24 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service was held on June 8, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

HELEN ROPER CARTER

EASLEY — Helen Roper Carter, 79, of Easley, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, and entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late John Anderson Roper and the late Frances Alberta Garrett Roper. Helen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mars Hill University and dedicated her career to serving others as an educator. She was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she lived each day seeking to share the love of Jesus Christ with those around her through her words, kindness, and example.

Helen was known for her generous spirit and servant’s heart. She was always willing to help others, offering encouragement, compassion, and support to family, friends, and anyone in need.

She loved thrift shopping, playing bridge, and spending time in the mountains, but her greatest joy was being with her family. Whether gathered around the table, celebrating special occasions, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, Helen treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved.

Her legacy of faith, generosity, and love will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but they rejoice in the assurance that she is now at home with our Savior.

Surviving are her children, Angie Carter Sheriff (Ben) of Easley, John David Carter (Caroline) of Anderson and Christopher Franklin Carter (Meg) of Greenville; her brother, Julien Daniel Roper (Donna) of Campobello; her sisters, Elaine Roper Marchbanks of Six Mile and Janet Roper Humphries (Randy) of Pickens; her grandchildren, Braxton Sheriff (Laura), Colton Sheriff (Mackenzie), Jackson Carter, Cate Carter, Eliza Carter, Will Carter, Mary Isaac Carter and Sarah Carter; one great-grandchild, Parker Sheriff; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Roper, and her brother-in-law, Dr. Marshall V. Marchbanks (Elaine).

The funeral service was held on June 1, at Six Mile Baptist Church, with private burial to follow at the church cemetery.

GERALDINE ‘GERRIE’ RAINES

EASLEY — Mrs. Geraldine “Gerrie” Johnson Raines, 91, wife of the late Arthur Warren Raines, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late Lawrence Sylvester Johnson and the late Thelma Fowler Johnson, Mrs. Raines retired from Alice Manufacturing Company with 32 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

Gerrie loved life and making new friends, she never met a stranger. Her greatest love was for her family.

She will be dearly missed by all that loved and knew her.

Surviving are her son; one sister; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter; two brothers and five sisters.

Graveside services were held June 4, at the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, Easley.

WILMA HAMLETT

EASLEY — It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma Porter Hamlett, who left this world peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on Nov. 22, 1937, in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Willie A. and Mary Berryhill Porter.

She touched the lives of many with her warm spirit and unwavering love.

Wilma dedicated many years of her life to working as a shipping clerk at Walmart, where her kind smile and cheerful demeanor brightened the days of her colleagues and customers alike. Upon her retirement, she continued to embrace life with the same passion she brought to her career.

A vibrant member of the Amazing Grace Fellowship, Wilma found immense joy in playing the piano and organ, sharing her love for gospel music with everyone around her. Her melodic voice and heartfelt playing were a testament to her steadfast faith and spirit, inspiring those fortunate enough to hear her sing.

Wilma leaves behind her loving husband of 71 years, Joe D. Hamlett, her sons, Tony Hamlett (Cindy) and Rick Hamlett. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren, Ashley Clemones (Justin), Courtney Mowry (Tyler) and Andrea Bearden (Bradley); her precious great grandchildren, Mason, Alaya, Jayda, Eva, Bailey, Taylor and Caroline.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Corby, Barbara Reeves and Judy Chambers, and a brother Harold Porter.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hamlett were conducted on June 5, in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Though we bid farewell to Wilma here on Earth, her spirit will live on not only in heaven but in our hearts and through the melodies she loved so dearly. Let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and the beautiful music that will forever echo in our memories.

GLORIA JEAN TAYLOR

EASLEY — Gloria Jean Taylor, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 4, 2026, at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born on Aug. 29, 1941, in Greenville County, Jean was the cherished daughter of the late Jones E. Taylor and Rosa Lee Farmer Taylor. A lifelong and devoted member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Easley, she lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and service to others. Jean had a special place in her heart for those in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone facing hardship.

She dearly loved her pets and found great joy in their companionship. An enthusiastic supporter of both Clemson Tigers football and Easley Green Wave football, Jean rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, a talent she used not only for enjoyment but also as a way to serve others. With a generous spirit, she lovingly created handmade items for the homeless, sharing warmth, comfort, and kindness through every stitch. Jean’s caring nature and selfless devotion to others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Survivors include her brother, Fred Taylor (Teresa) of Mountain Rest; sister, Rosemary Taylor Wicker of Greenville; nieces, Andrea Driggers, Kelli Boxbeger, Leigh Wicker and Tillia Prucha; great-nieces and great-nephews, Malarie Driggers, Al Prucha and Mary Ella Prucha; and furry friend, Jaz.

In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brother, Bruce Taylor, and grandmother, Pearl Farmer.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving and compassionate care shown to Jean by her caregivers, especially Jennifer, whose kindness and dedication brought great comfort to her and her family.

ALLEN ZORN

LIBERTY — It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Cecil Allen Zorn, who departed this life on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 18, 1951, in Greenville, he was a son of the late Cecil B. and Viola Atkins Zorn.

He dedicated many years of his life to his work as a lead painter at Greenville Technical College, where his craftsmanship and dedication made a lasting impact. In addition to his work in education, he was a man of many passions. An animal lover with a remarkable talent for cooking, he had a knack for bringing people together around a delicious meal. Music resonated deeply within him, and he often shared his love for performing, delighting family and friends alike.

Beyond his professional pursuits, he found joy in sports. For over two decades, he generously volunteered his time as a referee for basketball, football, and baseball, embodying the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. His enthusiasm for sports was matched only by his love for traveling and soaking up the sun at the beach.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Renee Teat Zorn; a son, Chris Zorn, and a daughter, Pam Zorn; one grandson, Taylor Zorn; the mother of his two children, Kathy Zorn. Also surviving are three special cousins, Susan Welborn, Jane Austin and Paige Wood, and a special friend, Terri Pate. He will be remembered for his warm heart, vibrant spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Funeral services to honor his life were conducted June 8, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.  Private entombment will be held at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

JUDY KING

LIBERTY — Hilda “Judy” Ann Posey King, 75, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Judy was born in Liberty, on Oct. 2, 1950, to the late Jack Clinton and Hilda Mae James Posey. She was an only child, but she grew up surrounded by a close and loving extended family on Posey Hill Road. After graduating from Liberty High School as Valedictorian, Judy went on to earn an Associate’s Degree as a medical assistant at Tri-County Technical College.

Eventually she put her intelligence and skills to work in helping her husband to found King Asphalt; together, they built not just a business, but a legacy rooted in hard work and dedication.

However, Judy’s true passion was her family, and she eventually settled into her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Randal King; her daughter, Melanie Samples, and her husband, Chase; and her grandsons, Canaan King, Hendrix King, Cade Samples, Ezra Samples and Avery Samples. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Michael King.

As a grandmother, she relished every moment spent with her grandchildren, actively participating in their lives and showing unwavering love and support. She was also a doting aunt to many much-loved nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed pursuing her many interests, including reading, horses, travel, boating and Clemson Football.

A woman of faith, Judy was saved and baptized at Calumet Baptist Church as a child, but as an adult she was a longtime and exceptionally active member of Liberty First Baptist Church.

She served in numerous capacities, including the WMU, Young at Heart, and as a children’s Sunday School teacher, demonstrating her commitment to her church family. She also served her community in many ways, including through the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Judy’s generous nature and true servant’s heart touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed.

Funeral services were held at Liberty First Baptist Church on June 8, where family and friends gathered to celebrate Judy’s life. Following the service, she was laid to rest beside her son at Westview Cemetery in Liberty.

As we honor Judy’s life, let us carry forward her legacy of faith, love, and strength. She will forever remain in our hearts.

LOGAN TODD ANDERS

LIBERTY — It is with heavy hearts yet joyful memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Logan Todd Anders, who left us tragically in an accident on June 6, 2026. Born on July 11, 2001, in Easley, Logan spent his days in Liberty, where he grew into the exceptional man that we all cherished.

Logan was not just a skilled pipe fitter at A & A Fire Protection; he was a mechanic at heart-able to fix anything and everything. He loved the outdoors, finding joy in four-wheeling and adventuring in nature. His spirit was adventurous and free, and his laughter was infectious. He had a huge heart and an even larger spirit, always ready to lend a hand to friends and family alike. Logan was a true animal lover, caring for every stray he encountered, ensuring they felt loved and protected.

Logan is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Missi and Chris Stewart, as well as his father and stepmother, Kevin and Kathy Anders. He leaves behind his sister, Erin Anders; step-brothers Austin and Ryan Miller. Most importantly, his heart will forever remain with his cherished son, Carter Anders. He will also be deeply missed by his grandparents, Ricky and Tina Elgin and Sherry Mitchum.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Vernon Anders, Jr., Queen Elizabeth Anders and Clint Mitchum.

We invite you to join us as we celebrate Logan’s vibrant life. The funeral service will take place at Liberty Mortuary on June 11, at 12 p.m., where we will gather to share memories, laughter, and love while honoring the incredible person Logan was.

A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Liberty.

Logan, you never met a stranger, and you made true friends everywhere you went. Your favorite saying, “C’mon,” will echo in our hearts as we remember your adventurous spirit and loving nature.

TAMARA LYNNE GOLLACH

LIBERTY — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tamara Lynne Whitlock Gollach, who departed this world on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on April 5, 1960, in Easley, she was a daughter of the late Herschel D. and Claudia W. Whitlock. Tamara brought joy and warmth to all who knew her throughout her vibrant life.

Tamara, affectionately known for her bright spirit and love for life, dedicated over 30 years as an activities director in the long-term healthcare industry, where she touched the lives of many residents and colleagues. Her love for puzzles and games kept her sharp and brought her closer to friends, including her cherished group of long-time friends, Vicki Brunetti and Rhonda Whitaker, with whom shared many adventures over the years. She loved watching The Wizard of Oz which she watched any time she had the opportunity.

A deeply spiritual person, Tamara found great joy in her church community, where she sang in the choir and connected with others through her faith. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Tamara is survived by her loving husband, James Patrick “Jim” Gollach; her devoted sons, Aaron (Laura) and Evan Gollach; her sisters, Becky Bagwell (Poss) and Suzanne Koon (Randy); her brother-in-law, Robin Gilstrap; her five adoring grandchildren, Anya, Esmé and Ophelia Hannah and Adaline and Jack Gollach. She also leaves behind numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Denise Gilstrap.

A celebration of Tamara’s life hosted by the family will be held on June 14, at 2 p.m. at East Side Baptist Church, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in her honor.

We encourage everyone to reflect on the joy she brought and to carry it forward in our daily lives. Her legacy lives on in her family and friends, who will continue to celebrate the beautiful moments we had with her. Let us remember Tamara not with tears but with smiles, recalling all the love, laughter, and kindness she shared so generously.

Rest in peace, dear Tamara. You will be missed but never forgotten.
