At Liberty service, NY firefighter encourages others to ‘be the good’

LIBERTY — A Long Island man travels the country, doing acts of kindness at the sites of tragedies and encouraging others to spread kindness wherever they go.

Tommy Maher, a volunteer firefighter, has been on that mission since 2017, but says he saw “humanity at its best” in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
