Hagood Mill Historic Site recently announced the return of the annual Americana Folk Festival. Set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, the event promises a full day of soul-stirring music, Appalachian tradition and community celebration. This year’s headliner is The Resonant Rogues, a dynamic band rooted in the mountains of western North Carolina. Troop 51 scouts hike Chattooga Trail
The scouts of Troop 51 recently took a backpacking trip on the Chattooga River and hit the trail near Licklog Falls in Oconee County. Twenty-one scouts and adults made it on the hike. The trip was called the “Bradley Hawkins Memorial Hike” in memory of one of their former scout leaders and Eagle Scouts, who died as a result of a skateboarding accident in November 2021 at the age of 21. When Hawkins was a scout, he showed the troop the trail.

The Upstate Food Co-op (UFC) is holding an open house and member appreciation event on May 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 137 S. Main St. in Six Mile. As the only food co-op in Upstate SC, UFC is celebrating 47 years in business and the third year of our organic food garden. Stop by for a free goodies and sample bags, healthy food and beverage sample tastings, door prizes, a walk through the garden, chalk painting for kids and adults, free trial memberships.
