Kay, Parris exchange vows at Windy Hill Barn

Aaron Parris and Christy Kay were united in marriage at noon Dec. 12 at Windy Hill Wedding and Event Barn in Simpsonville.

The Rev. Joey Parris performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Patti Kay. She graduated from Anderson University in 2016. She is currently a teacher.

The groom is the son of Joey and Cheryl Parris. He graduated from the S.C. Fire Academy in 2016. He is currently a firefighter.

The bride chose Kyla Kay, her sister, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Walls, Carly Bruner, Erin Reid, Jessica Bass, and Megan Pruitt.

The flower girl was Skylar McDermott.

The groom chose Shawn Parris, his brother, as his best man. Groomsmen were Josh Berryhill, Wade Brooks, JD Segars, Kevin Oldham and Zach Coates. Ring bearers were Bentley Parris, Caleb Richey and Dylan Richey.

After the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Easley.

• Christmas events set in Dacusville

Dacusville will soon be getting into the Christmas spirit with the annual Christmas tree lighting event and Christmas parade in December. The tree lighting event will be held at 7 p.m Dec. 11 at the old Dacusville school on Earls Bridge Road. The annual Christmas parade will be the next day on Saturday, Dec. 12, beginning at 2 p.m.

‘Christmas at the Barn’ event raising funds for Happy Hooves

MARIETTA — On Sunday, Dec. 13, Happy Hooves Therapeutic Equestrian Center will be hosting its 17th annual Christmas at the Barn fundraising event at Eden Farms, located at 4700 Dacusville Highway in Marietta.

Dabbs earns national recognition for work for Clemson Extension

CLEMSON — Clemson University Extension Associate Amy Dabbs received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of County Agriculture Agents during the 2020 Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference.

Dabbs, who serves as Statewide School and Community Gardening Coordinator for Clemson Extension, was one of several honorees who represent the top two percent of the membership selected by their peers and the director of Extension.

Liberty school has 76 students quarantined

COUNTY — More than 10 percent of the students at Liberty Primary School were quarantined as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19 last week, according to the School District of Pickens County.

In its weekly update, the district said five staff members and 76 students at the school were quarantined, though only one staff member and one student tested positive for the virus, with one of those attending school.

Easley’s Safe Industries sponsors 9/11 stair climb

GREENVILLE — More than $10,000 was raised overall for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) during the Greenville City 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb sponsored by Safe Industries in Easley.

The event was a way to honor and remember FDNY first responders who selflessly gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

The stair climb saw participants climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Robinson reaches century mark

The daughters of Edward (Rat) Robinson would like to wish their father a happy 100th birthday on Oct. 19, 2020. Mr. Robinson was born and raised in Easley. He was married to the late Thelma Morgan Robinson. He served in the Navy during World War II. He is a longtime member of the Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Robinson has three daughters, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Many still live in the Easley area.
