Elected officials discuss budgets

COUNTY — It’s budget season for South Carolina, Pickens County and local municipalities.

Finances were among the topics area county elected officials discussed at a recent meeting.

Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive planned for Saturday

COUNTY — This Saturday, May 11, will mark the 32nd anniversary of one of America’s great days of giving — the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Letter carriers walk through the community every day, often coming face to face with a sad reality for too many — hunger.

Gettys students involved in bus crash

GASTONIA, N.C. — Two charter school buses carrying Gettys Middle School students were involved in an accident Friday morning in North Carolina.

According to a statement from School District of Pickens County spokesman Darian Byrd, the accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. Friday, April 26, and involved one charter bus colliding with the second bus.

Blue Ridge annual meeting brings thousand to Pickens

PICKENS — Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative hosted its regular annual meeting of members on April 10-11, with registration conducted simultaneously at both its Oconee and Pickens offices.
