LWV chapter to meet on Oct. 17 at Clemson UMC
CLEMSON — The League of Women Voters of Oconee and Pickens Counties will hold its monthly meeting from 7-8 p.m. Oct. 17.
The program is “The Supreme Court: What’s Ahead,” presented by Chip Stapleton, a retired government relations consultant and former chairman of the Clemson University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
The meeting will be held at Clemson United Methodist Church, 300 Frontage Road. The public is welcome.
6th annual Meals on Wheels glow run set for this weekend
LIBERTY — Pickens County Meals on Wheels will host its sixth annual glow run 5K this Saturday, Oct. 14.
The race will take place in front of the McKissick Center on S.C. Highway 93 and end at the rear of the PCMOW building on Edgemont Avenue. A glow attire contest will be planned at 7 p.m., with participants encouraged to be creative with their glow attire. The timed race will begin at 7:30 p.m., and walkers are welcome to follow in the rear of the lineup. First, second and third place will be awarded for males and females in three age categories. A post-race snack will be provided along with a “selfie-station” with UV lighting.
PCMOW is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making sure that no senior is left isolated or hungry.
The organization’s budget relies on fundraising and donations to help continue to provide meals and a friendly safety check to the county’s homebound seniors.
YAM Alumni performed and competed at International Bluegrass Music Association

Cub Scout explore the Upstate
Cub Scouts from Pack 51 rest on a railroad car after touring Stumphouse Tunnel in Oconee County. In addition to the tunnel, the Cub Scouts and their families hiked to the bottom of Issaqueena Falls, explored the rest of the park and finished up with a picnic lunch. Pack 51 meets on Tuesday night, 7pm-8pm at Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens and youth can join the Pack if they are from ages 5 to 10. CLEMSON — Clemson University Center for Agricultural Technology (CU-CAT) hosted an event showcasing the latest agricultural technologies the university has used that has far-reaching impacts for farmers, businesses and the economy of South Carolina and beyond.

Grand opening
Santa Fe Grill House and Bar recently held its formal grand opening in Pickens.
