Keowee charity golf tourney next month

PICKENS — The Keowee Charity Golf Classic is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 1.

The Keowee Classic, which is sponsored by Keowee Lodge #79 A.F.M. of Pickens, is set to kick off with a 2 p.m. start at the Rock Golf Club and Resort in Pickens.

Funds raised by the event will be used to benefit the Richard M. Campbell Veterans

CU Perimeter Road project hits milestone

‘Cry for Revival’ event set for area churches

COUNTY – Rev. Isaiah Scipio of Zion Baptist in Seneca will be speaking at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church and Porter’s ChapelUnited Methodist Church in September for “A Cry for Revival” events.

The first event will be September 17 starting at 7 p.m. at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church located at 152 Mount Bethel Church Road in Sunset.

The next event will be on September 18, beginning at 7 p.m. at Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church located at 152 E. Preston McDaniel Rd. in Pickens.  Both churches are Pastored by Revs. Joe and Brenda Durham.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Woman charged in recent burglary

CENTRAL — A woman is charged with burglary in connection with an incident reported earlier this month.

According to a release issued on Aug. 24 by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, Uniform Patrol Division deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Inside Mini Storage in Central on Aug. 13.

The suspect fled on foot before deputies arrived, the release said.
