Inaugural Waffle Fest a succes for Liberty

The City of Liberty hosted the inaugural S.C. Waffle Festival presented by the U.S. Waffle Company on Saturday. Citizens from around the Upstate were able to enjoy the free festival which featured live music, a kid zone and many waffle-based contests.

CLEMSON — On a weekday morning, Clemson University students rushed to board the Blue Route Tiger Transit bus at a remote commuter parking lot to get to class on time. The doors swung open to reveal the warm, inviting smile of their bus driver, Arthur Lynn Collins. Jr.

Students affectionally call him “Mr. Lynn.” He welcomes every passenger who steps on his bus with that inviting smile, no matter the time of day. The students also encounter his signature bowl of candy and rows of colorful rubber ducks that line the bus’s dashboard.

Young innovators shine at the science fair

CENTRAL — Southern Wesleyan University proudly hosted the 2025 South Carolina Region 1 Science Fair welcoming over seventy bright young scientists from Anderson, Abbeville, Laurens, Greenville, Greenwood, Oconee, and Pickens counties. Students in grades 3 -12 showcased their innovative research and competed across 22 STEM categories.

More than 1,000 acres burned as fire continues to rage at Table Rock

COUNTY — A fire at Table Rock  had consumed more than 1,100 acres as of Monday night, according to the S.C. Forestry Commission.

On Friday, March 21, the fire at Table Rock State Park was reported to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office’s communications center by law enforcement officers who were searching for Stephanie Womacks, a Georgia woman who has been missing for several weeks after last being seen at White Oak Campground, according to a county update.

SC Waffle Fest set for Saturday

LIBERTY — The city of Liberty will host the first-ever S.C. Waffle Fest presented by the U.S. Waffle Company on Saturday. The festival will take place on March 29 on South Commerce and West Front Street in downtown Liberty from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BHSPC opens new location

EASLEY — Staff of an organization whose longtime motto is “…where change begins” welcomed community partners last week to help them celebrate a change that has been long in the works.
