Courier announces 2024 All- County Football Team

SC Waffle Fest ’25 set for downtown Liberty

LIBERTY — The city of Liberty will host a brand-new festival in 2025.

The event is the first-ever Waffle Fest and will be presented by the U.S. Waffle Company.

The festival will take place on March 29 on South Commerce and West Front Street in downtown Liberty from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine. The event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.

The city will provide more information leading up to the new event.

Future unclear for Easley Big Lots

EASLEY — The future of the Easley Big Lots location is in doubt, following corporate leadership instructing all locations to commence “Going Out of Business” sales.

That instruction followed a corporate release issued Dec. 19 announcing the company did not anticipate a previously announced “asset purchase agreement” with Nexus Capital Management going forward.

Pickens native Gantt plays the Grand Ole Opry

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Local musician and singer Jake Gantt of Pickens got to live a dream once again on Dec. 9 when he took the stage at the Mecca of county music, the Grand Ole Opry.

The appearance marked the fourth time that Gantt was asked to perform on the most prestigious stage in country music.
