LIBERTY — Calvin “Cowboy” Alvoid Galloway Jr., 71, husband of Cindy Collier Galloway, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Cowboy was the son of the late Ina Estelle Ridley Galloway and Calvin Alvoid Galloway Sr.. He also loved fishing and woodworking.

EASLEY — Margaret Omega Kelley, 82, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Jerry B. Kelley Sr.

Omega (Meg) was born in Oconee on Jan. 26, 1941, to the late Jesse Dyar and Marvin Jane Seaborn Dyar. Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker.

She loved to crochet and made many dish cloths and potholders to give to the community. Meg loved spending time with her children,

grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of Free Wesleyan Church in Easley.

PICKENS — Margaret Ellen Waldrop, 84, loving wife of John “Bud” Waldrop, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Waldrop was born in Pickens on May 21, 1938, to the late Clyde David and Annie Mae Anderson Roberts. She retired from Alice Manufacturing at the Elljean Plant and enjoyed being involved at her church, Pickens View Wesleyan, and supporting them in whatever role she could. Margaret loved traveling, especially to the beach, and cooking for her family every Sunday, but “Nanny’s” passion was taking care of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Born on Aug. 20, 1959, in Lancaster, Calif., Johnny was the son of the late Martin McCall and Priscilla Mae Waters Parris. Mr. Parris earned his Merchant Mariner Certificate and was employed by Edison Chouest Offshore and later Cornell Dubilier. LOUIE HAMPTON SENN III ‘TREY’

CLEMSON — We are sad to announce the passing of Louie Hampton “Trey” Senn III, 71. On April 19, 2023, he left us peacefully in his sleep at Hope Memory Care Center in Dacula, Ga., from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, the family moved to Clemson when Trey was six. Trey attended Calhoun-Clemson School and graduated from D.W. Daniel High School in 1970. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in 1974, followed by a master’s degree in city and regional planning in 1976. Until his retirement in 2016, Trey was the executive director of the Klamath County Economic Development Association in Klamath Falls, Ore. Trey loved angling for bluefish with friends

in Avon, N.C., and exploring Revolutionary War battlefields all over South Carolina.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents Louie and Mary Senn and his brother Allen Senn.

MICHAEL RAY BASS

LIBERTY — Michael Ray Bass Sr., 57, died on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at AnMed Hospital in Anderson.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Richard Bass Jr.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Brigman Bass; three brothers, Tommy Bass and wife Vickie of Liberty, Timmothy Bass of Lumberton, N.C., and Paul Bass and his wife Becky of Shallotte, N.C.; two sisters, Cathy Hamilton and husband Zack of Easley and Kelly Bagwell and husband Chris of Travelers Rest; a son, Michael Bass Jr. and wife Angeleki of Hope Mills, N.C.; a stepson, Vance Andrew Britt and wife Aston of Fayetteville, N.C.; a daughter, Chasity Bass of Liberty; and four grandchildren, Kayden Coursey, Nina Coursey, Jayden Coursey and Alyssa Bass.

Visitation was held on April 28 at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory in Lumberton, N.C. The funeral service immediately followed the visitation, in the chapel of Floyd Mortuary and Crematory.

 

REV. KENNETH DONNAN LAWSON

EASLEY — Rev. Kenneth Donnan Lawson, 82, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at his residence.

Rev. Lawson was born in Chester on Jan. 28, 1941, to the late Rev. Guy Humphries Lawson Sr. and the late Lillian Merritt Donnan Lawson. He is survived by his wife, Ella Lawson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Sightler Lawson.

Rev. Lawson proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 21 years of service. He served as a hospital corpsman and achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Rev. Lawson earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Master of Education from Furman University. Rev. Lawson taught science at Tanglewood Middle School, served as pastor of Wake Union Baptist Church and Glenwood Baptist Church, and was a missionary pastor of Rome Baptist Church in Rome, Italy. He loved and enjoyed visiting friends and family, and he also enjoyed gardening, collecting and reading. Rev. Lawson was an active member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

In addition to his loving wife, Rev. Lawson is survived by his two sons, Marion Lawson (Tracy) of Liberty and Michael Lawson (Alison) of Youngsville, N.C.; a sister, Glenda Cannon of Lyman; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Rivers of Powdersville; six grandchildren, James Lawson (Tara), Emily Moats (Chandler), Samuel Lawson, Brandon Lawson, Nicholas Lawson and Zachary Lawson; and three great-grandchildren, Noah Lawson, Judah Lawson and Lawson Moats.

In addition to his first wife and his parents, Rev. Lawson was preceded in death by a brother, Guy H. Lawson, Jr.; a sister, Mary Lillian Rivers; and a brother-in-law, Charles Cannon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at Rock Springs Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church

WYATT KINCAID SHORT

PENDLETON — Wyatt Kincaid Short, 22, of Pendleton, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, in Central.

Wyatt was born in Oconee County on Feb. 8, 2001, the son of Luke Short of Six Mile and Bertie Baxter of Mountain Rest. Wyatt graduated high school third in his class from S.C. Youth Academy in 2016. Wyatt was a self-employed auto and motorcycle mechanic. His passion was playing guitars and motorcycles — the louder the better for both.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Ada Short.

Surviving, in addition to his father and mother, are his stepfather, Clark Baxter of Mountain Rest;
