Flame burn Blue Ridge

GREER — Blue Flame volleyball travelled to Blue Ridge High School on last Tuesday night to take on the Tigers in their first  Region 2-4A matchup. Daniel, Easley compete at tri-match

The Daniel and Easley High School volleyball teams competed in a tri-match with Wren at Daniel High School last Wednesday. Daniel went 1-1 at the match defeating their county foe and falling to the Hurricanes, while the Green Wave lost both matchups. Above: Daniel’s Ava Ross reaches out to make a dig. Keowee Charity Golf Classic set

PICKENS — The Keowee Charity Golf Classic is set for Sunday, Sept. 15, starting at 2 p.m.

The event will be played at The Rock Golf Course and Resort, located at 171 Sliding Rock Road in Pickens.

The cost for the event is $70. Price includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart and lunch. Golf format is captain’s choice, with registration beginning at 1 p.m. and a shotgun start scheduled at 2 p.m.

There is a raffle planned, with tickets on sale for $5 each or five for $20. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the local food bank, The Gleaning House and 10 Line Ministries 10LineMinistries.org).

Panthers Fan Fest a success in team’s return to Clemson

CLEMSON — The Carolina Panthers returned Thursday evening to where it all began — Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.

The NFL team based out of Charlotte, N.C., returned to the stadium — the site of the team’s home games during its inaugural 1995 season — for its annual Fan Fest as it prepares for its 30th season, which will kick off next month.
