Pickens club volleyball team wins tourney
PICKENS — The Pickens Carolina One 18 Elite volleyball team went 5-0 and won the K2 Wilderness tournament Jan. 30-31 among a powerful group of teams playing in Sevierville, Tenn.

Daniel’s Hicks picked for state all-star team
CENTRAL — Daniel High School senior guard Sincere Hicks earned a prestigous accomplishment last week, as she was named to the roster of the Carolinas Classic All-Star Basketball Game.
However, the game, which annually pits the best players in the Carolinas against one another, won’t be played this season due to COVID-19.
Hicks, an all-state selection in 2020, is averaging 10.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.6 steals and 0.9 blocks per game this season for the Lions (10-5, 9-1 Western 3A).

COUNTY — After years of hard work and dedication, 12 Pickens County athletes saw the fruits of
their labors on Wednesday as they signed to compete at the next level during national signing day.
The first ceremony of the day was held at Pickens High School, where Drew Campbell and Zander Gravely signed to continue their football careers at Lenoir-Rhyne and Erskine, respectively.

County baseball teams ranked in preseason top 10

COUNTY — The South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association released its preseason high school
baseball ranking last week, and Pickens County was well represented, with two county teams amongst the top 10.
In Class 3A, the Daniel Lions are ranked 10th in the state, but face a tough road ahead with region foes BHP and Wren ranked ahead of them.

Horn’s career night lifts Easley to victory

PICKENS — Easley sophomore forward Reagan Horn just hoped to match her previous season high when the Green Wave tipped off against rival Pickens on Friday night.
“I scored 13 earlier in the season,” Horn said. “I knew I needed to reach that number again with this
being a rivalry and how close it was last time.”

ANDERSON — The Easley High School boys’ basketball team seemed to have everything going against it on Friday night.
Facing off against a tough Westside Ram team inside the hostile confines of William Roberts

Green Wave girls fall at Westside

Six Mile Recreation spring signups open
SIX MILE — The Six Mile Recreation Department is currently registering participants ages 4-12 for spring baseball, softball and tee-ball.
Fees are $40 for tee-ball (4-6 years old), $65 for coach pitch baseball/softball (7-8 years old), and $75 for baseball/softball (9-10 or 11-12 years old).
Registration is open until Feb. 15. After that date, a $25 late fee will be applied.
Participants may register in person at Six Mile Town Hall from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday or online at sixmilesc.org/recreation. A small convenience fee will be applied if paying online.
