Chambers takes two gold medals

LIBERTY — Berkshire Pickens Wrestling Club hosted a USAW sanctioned tournament at Liberty High School on Saturday, April 9.
Tanner Chambers (Liberty) posted a perfect 6-0 record and captured double gold wrestling Greco-Roman and Freestyle in the 171-lb. Cadet division.
Teammate Philip Rainwater (Liberty) took the gold in the Freestyle 130-lb. Junior division and took the silver in Greco-Roman. Nathan Gilstrap (Liberty) took a silver in Freestyle in the 140-lb. Cadet division and a Bronze in the Greco-Roman competition.
Nikki Weidman (Easley) took a bronze in both the Greco-Roman and Freestyle competition in the 105-lb. Cadet division.
Another double medal winner for BPWC was Andrew Souls (Liberty) who bronzed in both styles in the 171-lb. Cadet division.
Dakota Stewart (Liberty) overcame a rocky start and captured the silver in the 145-lb. Cadet division in the Freestyle competition.
Jimmy Knott (Liberty) took a bronze in the Freestyle competition in the 140-lb. Cadet division. Rainwater, Weidman and Knott were all wrestling in their first Greco-Roman and Freestyle competition.
The tournament was a successful fundraiser for Liberty High School Wrestling. The tournament attracted 64 Greco-Roman wrestlers and 75 Freestyle competitors. The officers, coaches and athletes of BPWC would like to thank Dunkin’ Donuts of Central, the Hudson Bagel Company of Clemson, Ingles of Liberty and Liberty High School for their contributions. BPWC returns to action on April 30 at a USAW-sanctioned tournament in Boiling Springs.
