• Music on the Market on Friday in Easley

The City of Easley has planned the Gilstrap Family Dealerships’ Music on the Market on Friday nights in May and June. The events will take place from 7-10 p.m. in Old Market Square in Downtown Easley. On May 29, Hot as a Pepper is scheduled to perform. June 5 will feature Fortunate Sons, while on June 12 Alex Christie and Family and Whitten City News will be in town on June 19. Everyone is asked to bring dancing shoes and a blanket or chair. There will be food for sale and a free children’s play area.

• Sertoma Club invites locals to meet

The Clemson Sertoma Club invites all interested local residents to attend its meetings. The club meets at noon the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Occasions at Wedgefield, located at 1551 Eighteen Mile Road in Central. New visitors are always welcome.

• Pickens Lions plan meetings each month

The Pickens Lions Club is in need of new members. The club meets the first and third Thursday of every month at Pizza Inn in Pickens. Dinner begins at 6:40 p.m., and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to anyone interested in joining the club or simply finding out more about the club and how it serves Pickens.

• Grace UMC plans Vacation Bible School

Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens invites children to “Everest VBS: Conquering Challenges With God’s Mighty Power!” from June 15-18. A snack supper begins at 5:30 p.m., and the program lasts until 8 p.m. Preschool-age through fifth-grade children will discover what it means to hold on to God’s mighty power in everyday life. They will enjoy Bible-learning activities, catchy songs, games, yummy treats and sciency/fun crafts. • PPCCDC golf tourney set for June

The warm weather is here, and it is time to hit the golf course. Pickens Presbyterian Church Child Development Center is inviting locals to come play “Fore the Kids” as it hosts its fourth annual golf classic on Friday, June 5, at the Pickens Country Club. Registration is at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $100 per person or $400 per team including breakfast from Bojangles’.

A barbecue lunch will be served after the tournament. First-place prize will be a round of golf at the Vineyards. All other prizes will be cash. For more information, call (864) 878-9953.

• St. Michael’s plans fundraiser May 30

This weekend, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Easley will hold its annual Spring Chicken BBQ fundraiser. On Saturday, May 30, from 4-7 p.m., everyone is invited to drop in to eat fresh barbecued chicken with all the fixings or pick up a plate to go.

BBQ plates include a half chicken, choice of side dishes and beverages. To purchase tickets, stop by the church office at 1200 Powdersville Road in Easley through Thursday, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 8 and under. The fundraiser provides funding for church outreach efforts benefiting charities throughout Pickens County and church ministries.
