• Legion to host flag retirement April 16

The American Legion Post 52 in Easley will be performing a flag retirement ceremony at 11 a.m. on April 16. The ceremony will be at the Pope Field Recreation field in Easley.

• Open house set for McKinney Chapel

Everyone is invited to visit the historic McKinney Chapel at the Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, located at 655 Cleo Chapman Road in Pickens County.
An open house will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 1-3 p.m.
Repair and maintenance of the beloved chapel and graveyard are extensive and need immediate and costly attention.

• Easley Museum to open on 1st Fridays

The Easley Area Museum has expanded hours of operation that will now include the first Friday of each month. Starting April 1, the museum will be open to the public from 1-5 p.m. Normal hours will continue for every Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p m. or by appointment.

• CRO starts Dolly’s Imagination Library

Cliffs Residents Outreach, a nonprofit supporting education in Pickens County, recently launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in the following Pickens ZIP codes: 29685, 29635, 29661 and 29671.

• Hagood Center to host gospel singing

Hagood Community Center will hold its first musical fundraising concert of the year next month.
Will Brothers and Friends will be performing at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in the auditorium. The event is called the Early Spring Jam and is set to feature a variety of gospel/bluegrass favorites.
Those performing include Will Dickson, Bruce Simmons, Buford Riggins, David Seibring, Allen Roper, Andrea Monroe and Samantha Morgan.
As a separate fundraiser, Hagood Community Center is going to serve a spaghetti dinner prior to the concert from 4:45-6:45 p.m. Hagood Community Center (also known as the Pickens Senior Center) is located at 129 Schoolhouse St. in Pickens.
Tickets for the concert are $7 each and are only being sold in advance at the community center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the dining room. Tickets are limited, so get yours early.
Tickets for the spaghetti dinner are also limited and are $7 each and are in advance only.
All funds raised will be used to support the mission of the Pickens Senior Center and enrich the experience of seniors and others at the center.

• Local friends and newcomers to meet

The Tri-County Friends and Newcomers will meet the second Monday of each month through April 2022. The group has a new meeting location in the Powdersville Branch Library off S.C. Highway 81. Social time is 10 a.m. Business meeting is at 10:30 a.m.

• AL Post 52 seeks baseball players
