Concert, cruise-in, fireworks set for Pickens Saturday

PICKENS — Fireworks and music will fill the night sky above Pickens on Saturday night.

In a makeup performance rescheduled from this year’s Azalea Festival, The Tams will take to the stage at the city’s new amphitheater beginning at 6 p.m. and perform until 9 p.m.

Following the performance, the city will host a fireworks display that has also been rescheduled, this time from the Pickens Celebrates the Fourth event, which was also canceled due to rain earlier this month.

Prior to the concert, West Main Street will host a cruise-in and other activities beginning at 4 p.m.

Visitors are asked to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics for the performance.

The performance is just the latest in a series this summer at the city’s new amphitheater, which opened the final Saturday of June.

Performers scheduled to play at the amphitheater next month include the Trey Ward Band, the City Street Band, Taylor Stewart, New Dixie Storm and The Hired Help.

“We are very excited about the entertainment this summer,” said Allison Fowler, executive director of the Pickens Revitalization Association. “Even moreso, we’re excited about showcasing the new amphitheater as a space for the community to gather and enjoy such events.”
