• Baha’is to discuss racism at meeting

In honor of Black History Month, the Baha’is of Pickens County invite the public to a Tuesday community table talk with a topic of “Racism: Just Undo It” to discuss the vision of race unity and how it is
America’s most challenging issue. The group will meet in the upstairs conference room at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m.

Have you ever seen a rope being made, an egg boiled over an open fire in a paper cup or cakes baked in a cardboard box? Locla Boy Scouts will be displaying camping and hiking equipment, demonstrating fire building, knife and ax usage, cooking without utensils, and leave-no-trace camping practices at an open house later this month.

In addition, non-outdoor skill merit badges such as music and Scuba diving will be presented at the event, scheduled to be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Scout hut at 188 Black Snake Road in Pickens.

Youth between the ages of 11-17 are eligible to join the Scouts, but everyone is cordially invited to attend the open house. Call Michael Ralston at (843) 818-2470 with any questions.

• Abercrombie set to speak to Baha’is

The Baha’is of Pickens County invite the public to hear local author Richard Abercrombie discuss his recently published book, “Crossing the Line: A Memoir of Race, Religion and Change” in the downstairs meeting room at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.

• Black history event set at DPO Ministries

Divine Purpose Outreach Ministries and Pastor Tim Sutton invite all to the ministry’s annual black history program on Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. Dinner will be served immediately after the program. Divine Purpose Outreach Ministries is located at 103 W. C Ave. Ext. in Easley (Simpson community, in the old Struggles Restaurant building).

• Beginner sewing lessons offered

The women’s department of the Church of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God is offering beginner sewing lessons on the third Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. All supplies are furnished. • Pack 51 scouting for new Cub Scouts

Do you want to be a Cub Scout? Cub Scout Pack 51 meets every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens. Cub Scouts is open to all youth in 5K to fifth grade. Boys over 11 years old are eligible for Boy Scouts, which meets on Monday nights at the Troop 51 Scout Hut in Pickens. Those interested can contact Perry Gravely at pickenstroop51@gmail.com.

• Sertoma Club invites locals to meet

The Clemson Sertoma Club invites all interested esidents to attend meetings. The club meets at noon the first and third Tuesdays each month at Occasions at Wedgefield, located at 1551 Eighteen Mile Road in Central.
