We need involved local leaders

Dear Editor,

Clemson is a city of Democrats and Republicans, but our problems — like excessive growth, roads and congestion — do not have party affiliations. We need common-sense solutions and leaders who will speak up.

The excessive growth in our town is the top issue that most are concerned about. Joe Sullivan, who is running to represent us on the county council, is the one who has brought that issue to the forefront this election year, and I praise him for that.

Speaking up is sometimes what is needed. I think back to when I was on the county council between 2014 and 2022. My fellow councilmen no longer wanted to pay Pickens County’s
