TOM JOHN ‘T.J.’ COX

PICKENS — Tom John “T.J.” Cox (Humpy), 92, loving husband to the late Annie Ruth Cox, passed away on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at Baptist Easley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 7, 1933, in Oconee County, T.J. was the cherished son of the late George Thomas Cox and Grace Hood Cox. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to the rural water department, where he took great pride in his work and the people he served. T.J. was a devoted family man who loved his family deeply and was loved by all who knew him. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting anything he could find—whether deer, rabbit, or boar. He also had a lifelong passion for drag racing and loved the thrill of the track. Above all, he treasured the simple joys of life, especially gathering with loved ones for Sunday dinners.

Survivors include his children, George Cox, Steve Cox and Lisa Gilstrap, all of Pickens; 14 loving grandchildren; 40 precious great-grandchildren; eight most precious and loving great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Cox; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Cox was predeceased by two sons, John “J.W.” Cox and Larry Cox; a grandson, Dakota Cox; a granddaughter, Candice MacMillan; and three sisters, Georgia Goodwin, Estella Dodson and Betty Youngblood.

Funeral service were held on Oct. 10, at the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens. Burial took place following the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted.

ANGIE GALLOWAY

PICKENS –  Angie Galloway, 57, passed away on Oct. 8, 2025.

Angie was born in Pickens, on March 5, 1968, to the late Johnnie Lee and Inez Dodson Stewart. She loved to be outdoors trout fishing, admiring the wildlife, or planting anything with the green thumb she had. Angie always enjoyed having a good laugh with those she was around.

Angie is survived by her two children: Kayla Mitchell (Richard) and Justin Hoover; six grandchildren: M. Gage Adcox, C. Garrett Adcox, B. Griffin Adcox, Hayden Mitchell and Emersyn Mitchell, Lillian Mitchell; and one brother, Ricky Stewart (Shelia).

In addition to her parents, Angie was preceded in death by her brother Terry Stewart.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

THELMA ANN ROBINSON

HOUSTON, TX — Thelma Ann Robinson, 81, entered eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice House of Houston, Texas, with her loving family by her side. She was born on Jan. 5, 1944, in Greenville. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Ulysses Robinson Jr., mother Lois Coleman; father Cero Patterson; brother Melvin Patterson Sr.; sister Barbara Sue Jones and daughter Barbara Robinson Smith.

Before becoming ill, she was an active member of Brookhollow the Church without Walls (choir member and greeter) in Houston, and was a retired educator from the Board of Education, public school system in Bridgeport, Conn. She was a member of several organizations and clubs to include the National Council of Negro Women, Eastern Stars and Red Hatters to name a few, and enjoyed reading and gardening.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Russell (Glynis) and Derrick Robinson; grandchildren, Tacara and Taylor Robinson; great-grandchild, Trinity Robinson; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family requests donations be made to Brookhollow the Church without Walls Scholarship Fund. Arrangements entrusted to the Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Park, Pickens.

A visitation for Ms. Robinson will be held on, Oct. 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, Pickens. A graveside service will take place on Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Central.

 

GARY ALFRED KELLER

EASLEY — Gary Alfred Keller, 74, loving husband of 29 years to Gena Cochran Keller, passed away on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at Baptist Easley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 25, 1951, in North Carolina, Gary was the beloved son of the late James Keller and Hazel Collins Keller. He cherished spending time at the beach with his family and found joy in fishing and watching sports. Above all, Gary adored his grandchildren and took great delight in spoiling them every chance he could.

Survivors include his wife, Gena Cochran Keller of the home; children, Tasha Braswell (Paul) of Easley, Laura Keller (Jonathan) of Piedmont and Frank Keller (Elizabeth) of Mount Airy, Ga.; grandchildren, Kaylie Evatt, Logan Stabler, Kinsley Messick, Kasen Stabler, Paisley Stabler and Parker Stabler; sisters, Teresa Pace (Steve) and Brenda Ware (Steve); and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Keller was predeceased by his parents, James and Hazel Keller.

BARBARA LOUISE THOMAS

PICKENS — Barbara Louise Thomas, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at Manna Post Acute, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Oct. 20, 1929, in Pickens County, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Sampson A. Thomas and Winnie Whitmire. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing with a cane pole, vacationing in the mountains, taking peaceful walks, and spending time outdoors. She especially loved being around children and deeply cherished her family.

Barbara is survived by her grandson, Travis Chapman (DeeAnn) of Pickens; great-grandchildren, Logan, Morgan, Kolton and Kaylon; and three beloved great-great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She also leaves behind many loving and devoted nieces and nephews, including her special niece and caregiver, Glenda Snyder. Savannah and Issac also held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathie Chapman, and was the last surviving member of her siblings.

A Graveside Service was held on Oct. 13, at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

CURTIS PRESTON HENDRICKS, JR.

PICKENS — Curtis Preston Hendricks, Jr., 64, loving husband to the late Tina Hendricks, passed away on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at Ellenburg Nursing Home in Anderson.

Born Oct. 9, 1960, in Pickens County, Curtis was the cherished son of the late Curtis Preston Hendricks, Sr. and Maebell Trammell Hendricks.

Survivors include his daughter, Karey Raines (Jeff) of Pickens; grandchildren, Krystal, Carly and Bruce; and sister, Kim Darnell (Steve).

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hendricks was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Hendricks, and a brother, Keith Hendricks.

The family will held a memorial service on Oct. 10, at the sanctuary of Morning Star Independent Baptist Church, 111 N Cedar Rock Rd, Easley, SC 29640.

LEWIS RONALD NOBLITT

LIBERTY — It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lewis Ronald Noblitt, 84, who departed this life on Oct. 8, 2025, in Pickens. Born on Sept. 19, 1941, in Easley, he was the widower of Betty Lou Major Noblitt and a son of the late Lewis Clensil and Glator Couch Noblitt. Lewis led a life characterized by dedication to both his family and his country.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Lewis enlisted on July 27, 1960, and served honorably until his discharge on Aug. 1, 1962, achieving the rank of Seaman. After his military service, he made a significant contribution to the manufacturing industry working for 20 years at Saco Lowell in Easley as a machine operator, and later at General Electric, where he retired after 16 additional years. His work ethic and commitment left a lasting legacy among his coworkers and friends.

Above all, Lewis cherished his family. He is survived by his daughters, Ann Marie Cockrell (David) and Donna Bishop; sons, Ron Noblitt and Waylon Noblitt; and brothers, Jerry and Gary Noblitt. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Tori and Erin Cockrell, who brought him great joy and pride.

Funeral services were held in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel on Oct. 13. Burial with military honors followed where he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Liberty Memorial Gardens. Family and friends were invited to join them in celebrating his remarkable life and honoring his memory.

BRENDA K. ‘GRANNY’ YATES

EASLEY — Brenda K. “Granny” Yates, 74, entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family.

Born on March 31, 1951, in Greenville, Brenda was the cherished daughter of the late Alfred Gene Miller and Mary Sue Garrett Miller. A devoted member of Pickens Church of God, Brenda lived her life with love, faith, and a joyful spirit. She took pride in always looking her best—she loved rolling her hair, keeping her nails perfectly done, and listening to her favorite country music. Brenda had a gift for cooking and was especially known for her delicious fried chicken and salmon patties, which her family will fondly remember for years to come. Above all, she loved her family deeply and found her greatest joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart.

Survivors include her children, Charles Brooks (Amy) of Pelzer, Tamatha Helton of Williamston and Libby Kelley (Eric) of Easley; grandchildren, Charles Jr., Frankie Jr., Summer, Theresa, Ricky Jr., Kaitlyn and Star; and five loving and most precious great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene King (Kevin) of Simpsonville; and many loving friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Yates was predeceased by a son, Frankie Brooks; sisters, Jonell Kelley and Deborah Yates; and brothers, Danny Williams, Lee Williams and Allen Miller.

Visitation will be held on Oct. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens. A funeral service will be held on Oct. 17, at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the service at 3 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens in Piedmont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Brenda’s honor may be made to Pickens Church of God, 127 McDaniel Ave #2596, Pickens.

GLORIA DAVIS

PICKENS — Gloria Davis, 84, loving wife of 52 years to the late Clifton Henry Davis, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born May 6, 1941, in Greenville County, Gloria was the beloved daughter of the late Paul Everett and Mary White Everett. Mrs. Davis had a kind and gentle spirit and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending to her flowers and spending time feeding and watching the birds. An avid couponer, she enjoyed finding the best deals and sharing her discoveries with family. Gloria had a special love for country music, especially the songs of Conway Twitty. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her great-grandchild, Kyndall, who would play country music and board games to brighten her days. Gloria cherished her family deeply and was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless love and happiness.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Darlene Davis of Pickens; grandchildren, Sharlotte Ellenburg (Chris Mauldin) and Chance Cox; great-grandchildren, Kyndall Mauldin (Cierra Fox) and Patience Ellenburg; and great-great-grandchildren, Athena Mauldin, Arya Mauldin and baby Atlas on the way.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Davis was predeceased by her sister, Martha Masters; brother, Billy Everett; and niece, Michelle Masters.

Visitation will be held on Oct. 18, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pickens with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted.

TRACEY O’SHIELDS ALLISON

EASLEY— Tracey O’Shields Allison, 55, loving wife of 32 years to Terry Allison, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at her home.

Born Dec. 4, 1969, in Easley, Tracey was the beloved daughter of Jerry O’Shields and the late Gail Raxter O’Shields. Tracey had a deep love for her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She had a flair for beauty and style, always enjoying getting her nails and makeup done, and she never turned down the chance for a little extra sparkle in her jewelry or giving herself and others a perfect tan. Tracey also loved celebrating life’s fun moments—especially Halloween, one of her favorite times to gather with friends and family for parties and laughter. She loved giving meaningful gifts and cards to others. She was always looking for a good thrift find and wanted to go shopping anytime she was given the chance.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Allison of the home; children, Azure Mars (Dalton) of Anderson and Lyric Allison of Easley; grandchild, Bristol Mars; sister, Jessica Partridge (Michael) of Easley; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Allison was predeceased by her mother, Gail R. O’Shields.

ROBERT ‘ROCKY’ FLOYD

ANDERSON – Robert Stanley “Rocky” Floyd, 76, husband of Deborah Lynne McCurry Floyd, of 204 Wedgewood Drive, Anderson, died Oct. 10, 2025 at his home.

Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Norval and Doris Mosser Floyd. He attended High Praises Church, and was retired from his work in sales for Atlanta Rod Manufacturing.

In addition to his wife Deborah, Rocky is survived by his son Jeffrey McCann and wife Sylvia of Greenville; his three daughters, Dallas McGuire Hemic and husband Eric of Georgia, Alexandria Floyd Willingham of Anderson and Cattleya Willingham of Anderson; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Zipper, Michael and John Floyd.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at Rocky’s home with Rev. Chris Sustar officiating.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the home, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Old Silverbrook Cemetery.

IMOGENE ‘JEAN’ DODGENS SMITH

EASLEY — In the presence of her Lord and Savior – Imogene “Jean” Dodgens Smith, 92, of Easley, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.

Jean was the wife of the late Billy “Smitty” Smith, deceased March 12, 2016. Two hearts that shared one life, one love for 65 and a half years, and were blessed with three beloved daughters, Leslie Smith, Lisa Pomeroy and Lynn Smith (deceased Feb. 12, 2024), and a much-loved grandson, Jeremy C. Thomas (deceased Oct. 15, 2009).

Also predeceased, her parents Otto and Vadie C. Dodgens, brothers E.J., Joel and Hovey Dodgens, in-laws Joe Bill and Elizabeth M. Smith and sisters-in-law Evelyn Johnson and Dora Logan.

Jean lived a blessed life, loving God and others, her family and friends, and her special canine friend, LD “Little Dog.”

Jean loved music and enjoyed playing piano. Favorite hymns include Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, Blessed Assurance, How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace and It Is Well with My Soul.

She treasured these words from Psalms 90 – “… we spend our years as a tale that is told… so teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Oct. 16, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Mountain View Funerals and Cremations chapel, 105 Florence St, Pickens, with a committal burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 595 Old Liberty Rd, Easley.

ROBERT EDWARD ‘BOB’ SMITH

EASLEY — Robert Edward “Bob” Smith, 85, loving husband to the late Ruby Evette Smith, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 29, 1940, in Pickens, Bob was the beloved son of the late Floyd Smith and Dalphne Hiles Smith. He was a devoted member of Fellowship Community Church in Liberty and trained as an engineer. Bob found great joy in camping and fishing with his wife, as well as playing golf and traveling. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, he loved to laugh and brought joy to those around him.

Above all, Bob deeply loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as “Poppy.”

Survivors include his daughters, Sherri Clowser (George W. III) of Lancaster, Va. and Gayla Smith (Tony) of Liberty; grandchildren, Nikki White (Mike), Justin Smith (Ashley) and Tensley Clowser; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Austin, Brody, Natalie, Zane, Michael, Troy and Maverick.

He also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family members, with whom he remained close throughout his life. Bob was the last surviving member of his beloved siblings.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Smith was predeceased by his brothers, Larry Smith, Jim Smith, Richard Smith and Jackie Smith.

The family held a memorial service on Oct. 12, at the sanctuary of Fellowship Community Church, Pastor Chad Hope officiated.
