TED ARNOLD ‘PA’ GILLESPIE

EASLEY — Ted Arnold “Pa” Gillespie, 77, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A native of Pickens County, Ted was born on May 30, 1944, the only child of the late Joe Gillespie and Helen Adcox Gillespie. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Atlanta Braves and Clemson football. Mr. Gillespie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church in Pickens.

Survivors include his children, Randy Gillespie (Heidi), Joey Gillespie (April) and Lori Chandler (Richard), all of Easley; stepsons, James Moore and John Moore, both of Liberty; grandchildren, Dena Gillespie, Allison Kiser (Adam), Tristan Gillespie, Bailee Duncan (Josh), Aubree Gillespie, Daren Chandler, Justin Chandler and Weston Owen; a great-grandchild, Carver Jackson; and a very special friend, Brenda Moore.

Mr. Gillespie was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service was held on March 19 at Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1220 Smith Grove Road, Liberty, SC 29657.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ted’s honor may be made to Landmark Baptist Church Youth, 116 Landmark Court, Easley, SC 29640.

EDWARD LESTER ‘EDDIE’ O’CONNOR

 

EASLEY — Mr. Edward Lester “Eddie” O’Connor, 57, husband of JoAnn Sanders O’Connor, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at his home.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of the late James Thomas O’Connor and the late Virginia Ruth Hudson O’Connor, Mr. O’Connor was a graduate of Parker High School and the owner and operator of O’Connor Fence. He was a member of American Legion Post 3 and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 30 years, are his two sons, Brayden Willard and Carson Gosnell of the home; his five daughters, Chloe Gosnell of the home, Tina Lesley of Piedmont, Jenny Moore of Simpsonville, Tracy Richard of Easley and Joyell Holbrooks of Easley; his brother, Patrick O’Connor of Columbia; his six sisters, Hilda Burgan of Columbia, Dutch O’Connor of Asheville, N.C., Debbie Johnson of Lyman, Amy O’Connor of Spruce Pine, N.C., Patty Head of Greenville and Anna O’Connor of Duncan; his 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.

DOUG HATTO

LIBERTY — Douglas Lawrence “Doug” Hatto, 82, died on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Anderson Area Medical Center.

Born in Ann Arbor, Mich., he was a son of the late Lawrence and Sophia Gall Hatto.

He was the owner and operator of Doug’s Clock Repair for the last 42 years with his wife by his side. Prior to that, he worked many years as a medical chemist.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Susie Hatto of the home; three sons, Douglas L. Hatto Jr., Michael Hatto and Richard Hatto; three daughters, Teresa Campbell, Deborah Bomia-Hood and Cynthia Lamour; two brothers, Donald and David Hatto; a sister, Dorothy Berry; and 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Steven, Earl and Sanford.

Services will be held at a later date.

LILLIAN RIFKIN SNIPES

EASLEY — Mrs. Lillian Rifkin Snipes, 80, wife of William Harry Snipes, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 20, 2022.

Born in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of the late Henry Morton Rifkin and the late Ruth Bagley Rifkin, Mrs. Snipes attended Bob Jones University and Southeastern College and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Easley.

Lillian loved playing the piano and organ, but her greatest love was for her husband and her family. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 52 years, are her two aunts, Martha Bagley and Mary Thompson, both of Easley.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, at Open Praise Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from noon-12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, prior to the service.

The family is at the home.
